“To be single for a season” - Psalms 31:15 (a)
“my times (my seasons) are in your hand” KJV
What you need to know:
(1) Your single condition is not a mistake
(2) Its a call of God… for a season.
Definitions:
(1) a call- to *summon to a specific duty(*call for or send for authority or urgency; to call upon to do something)
(2) a season- the time when something *specified (*stated clearly as the condition: in this case singleness) flourishes, develops, takes place, or is popular, permitted, or at its best. We call this the single season. It is a time to be single. These should be characteristic of the single life- flourishing (productivity), developing (spiritual growth), at its best (in your love relationship with Jesus).
For some, your single season is at a beginning point; others, a mid point; for some you are coming to a finishing point; and some…. the call is for life.
The call to be single- I Corinthians 7:1(b), 7,8,9,26,27(b),28,29,32,34,35
“but I wish everyone were single, just as I am (as Jesus was). But God gives to some the gift of marriage, and others the gift of singleness.” NLT
Truth about the call:
(1) VS. 1 (b)- it is a good and perfect gift; it is a spiritual gift (therefore, there is keeping power for the single)
(2) vs. 8,9,26,27(b),28- it is better to wait for God’s timing to marry
(3) vs. 32,34 it’s a time when you can go anywhere to do anything to build and to advance God’s Kingdom; it’s a time when you can please God with more worship, more praise, more time in study of His Word, more fasting, more evangelizing, more…..etc….
(5) vs. 35 - it is what is best for you at this time (to develop spiritual disciplines, to keep you from sin and to prepare you for the *future* (the times\seasons God has planned for you)
The Call… to be single for a season… is the season
As I slowly walk through life
My spirit fights against my flesh
Some days my spirit wins
Other days it ends in a draw
That is when I ask my God and Savior if we can sit down and talk
I can remember once in late November right before December Jesus said to me
My son I never promise you that life would be easy
While you are on this earth you will always be tempted
This I want you to remember
The seasons will change for on this earth nothing stays the same
You need to remember that I your Lord and Savior will never leave you to fight alone
Remember that you are a family member
I will not let you burn like timber
My son oh my son you don't have to run
Wait for when I come and watch the evil one run!
Until that day be a light and walk upright in my light
Oh my Lord Jesus Your words hit me just right
I will bathe in your holy light
Thank you Jesus for Your insight
Rest with me tonight
For the devil is in for a fight
My sword has been sharpened, which is your word my God!
The Native American Indians in our simplicity, are taught to literally give away all that we have--to relatives, to guests of other tribes or clans, but above all to the poor and the aged, from whom we can hope for no return.
Matthew 6:3... But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret.
When out gardening with my husband...the meanings of Matt. 6:3 kept running through my mind. I understood what the Lord was trying to teach..but the Lord took it a little further with me that day...a deeper insight...(whisper...as Pamela would call it a light bulb moment)...Maybe also our giving should be so automatic...that there is no time, thought, questioning...even b4 our other hand realizes what is being let go of....just do it. Release...give...let go.
Matt. 25:31-37...Then the righteous will answer Him, Lord, "WHEN DID WE SEE" You hungry and feed you, or give You drink when you were thirsty, invite You in as a stranger, clothed You, visit You when You were sick or in prison? Verse 40..The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Acts 20:35, 2 Cor. 9:7, Proverbs 21:26
Whisper...could "be in secret" also include ones self?
Are you one who doesn't see within.... spiritual growth?
Php 1:6 being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Going through a new season of growing pains... sometimes it is hard for us to see the growth and change. One can only sense the soils restrictions... limits set by earthly weight and even by ones own self. Breaking through the soil...may be painful at times. The outcome from a new emergence we long to see.
We need to rest in the soil under the Son, because it is God who is watching and waiting for us to bloosom. It is the Lords purposes and plans that are preparing us. We need to "rest" on Php 1:6 that He (not I) who began a good work...(He not I) will carry it on....to completion.
Whisper...friend, soar boldly, being confidant...that in the soil of our confinements and weakness's....The Lord will carry it on...to completion! Ex. 19:4 2 Cor 3:18 In Christ, Brown Eagle
Matthew 14:29-32...v.30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
A door opened and I was asked to speak several years ago at a High School in an auditorium of 1,400. Before leaving that morning, I started to pace the floors, arms a flapping (a works of the flesh moment :) ...Lord, who am I fooling that I can do this, Lord, what did I get myself into this time, why do I keep getting myself into these positions and on and on I went for a few minutes. When I finally grew tired and just dropped to my knees...the Lord whispered to me in the quietness...The answer to your problem is within your questions..."I". Your right Brown Eagle...you can't...but with and in Me you can. Keep your eyes on me. Heb. 12:2 Psm 141:8 Cor. 4:18
Peter started to focus on the high waves. He started to sink because he took his eyes off of Christ. Taking our eyes off of Christ, we too are going to sink or backslide. During difficult situations we need to keep our eyes on Christ, rather then our inadequacies, circumstances, situations...whisper....and the "I"'s. In Christ, Brown Eagle
