Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like a large amount when you put it in the offering basket, but such a small amount when you go shopping?
Isn't it strange that you can't a lot of words to say when you are prayiny but you have no trouble coming up with gossip?
Isn't it strange how 2 hours seems like to long when you are at church, but short when you are watching t.v.?
Isn't ti strange how everyone wants front row seats when you go to a concert or show, but don't make a fuss about seating on the back row at church?
Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event at church 2 to 3 weeks in advance so we can put it on our agenda, but we can adjust our calendar for other events at the last minute?
Isn't it strange how difficult it is for some to learn a few scriptures to share with a lost sinner, but how easy it is to understand and repeat gossip?
Isn't it strange how we can so easily beleive all the bad news on t.v. and the newspapers, but we can't beleive the word of God?
Isn't it strange how we can send jokes in emails and they are forwarded right away, but anything about God we have to stop and think about offending someone before we send it on?
I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell
phone?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency.
This is something to make you go...hmm...where is my Bible? Oh, and one
more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible
being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill. And no dropped
calls!
Makes you stop and think "where are my priorities?"
Great Spirit, You Are the Life of Things
Grandfather, Great Spirit, once more behold me on earth and lean to hear my feeble voice. You lived first, and you are older than all need, older than all prayer. All things belong to you -- the two-legged, the four-legged, the wings of the air, and all green things that live.
You have set the powers of the four quarters of the earth to cross each other. You have made me cross the good road and road of difficulties, and where they cross, the place is holy. Day in, day out, forevermore, you are the life of things.
An article in National Geographic several years ago provided a penetrating picture of God's wings...
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage.
One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, that those under the cover of her wings would live...
Psalm 91:4 "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler."
It is such an encouragement for me to know that God has me covered with His mighty wings. Nothing that comes my way will have a chance to overtake or overcome my life because I have the king of kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ on my side. Praise the Lord for His goodness and protection for all those who put their trust in Him.
I encourage you to take refuge under the Master's wings. He is faithful to be with you and protect you from any vice and plan the enemy has come up with for your life.
