I was born in NJ, lived in NYC for 35 years, married twice, divorced, no children. My ethnic background is Italian and I love to cook. I catered for 5 years and owned a deli on the upper East Side of NYC in 1996.
I took a leap of faith and moved to New Orleans in October 2006 to accept a position as Director of Transitional Housing at the New Orleans Mission. I was a former Design Director for 20 years in NYC, went back to college at 55 to get a degree in Office Technology so I could become proficient on the computer. I worked with Dare 2 Dream, a student run non profit club at TCI College, planned Christmas Events for children with termenal blood diseases, launched toy drives and food drives, successfully raised 5000 pounds of food for the Bowery Mission. As Katrina project Chairman, I launched a direct mail fundraiser targeted to their sister Gospel Missions and raised $23,000.00 to help repair their roof. God blessed me with a contact that helped send tons of women's clothing down to New Orleans to the tune of $274,000. Because of my successful fundraising, I was offered a job by the New Orleans Mission; however, once I was here I realized I was really called by the Lord to be His vessel helping to mentor homeless women. God gifted me with a wonderful talent to write resumes and develop cover letters for people. which has helped them get jobs and generated a supplemental income I needed to pay rent once I left the mission where I had free room and board. I'm currently writing a grant proposal to bring major funding into New Orleans. As Project Coordinator for the Nazareth Community Development Project, I give all the glory and recognition to God for planting this awesome vision into my soul. I need prayers and support to stay focused and clear as to what I must do to forward the project. The devil has come at me financially, emotionally, and tries to break up the relationship I'm in, but I have faith that God will protect me and guide me through the rough spots. I need all the prayers and support I can get to make this dream a reality and be able to bring a new Community health Care Center to New Orleans as well as affordable housing opportunities for Katrina victims.
