- Born in sin but saved by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. O Almighty and Everlasting Father, I renounce all false belief. Give me your grace to put my trust in no person on earth, not in myself, my power, my skill, my possessions, my piety, nor in anything else I may have. I place my trust in no creature, whether in heaven or on earth. I take the risk of placing my confidence only in You - the one, invisible, inscrutable, and only God, who created heaven and earth and who alone is superior to all creation. I am not made afraid by all the wickedness of the devil and His cohorts because You, O God, are superior to them all. I would believe in You no less if everyone were to forsake me and persecute me. I would trust in You no less if I were poor, unintelligent, uneducated, despised, or lacking in everything. I believe no less though I am a sinner. For this manner of faith will of necessity rise over all that does or does not exist, over sin and virtue and all else, thus depending purely and completely upon You as the First Commandment enjoins me to do.
I do not ask for any sign from You so as to put You to the test.
I trust in You steadfastly, no matter how long You may delay, prescribing neither a goal, nor a time, nor a measure, nor a manner in which You must respond to me, but leaving all to Your divine will in a free, honest, and genuine faith.
If You are almighty, what could I lack that You could not give or do for me?
If You are the Creator of heaven and earth and Lord over every thing, who, then, could deprive me of anything, or work me harm? Yes, how can it be otherwise than that all things work for good for me if You, the God whom all creation obeys and depends upon, are well intentioned toward me?
If You are God, You can and wish to do what is best with me. Since You are Father, You will do all this and do it gladly.
And since I do not doubt this but place my trust in You, I am assuredly Your child, servant, and eternal heir, and it will be with me as I believe.
