In God We Trust
In God We Trust are four of the most powerful words that could have ever been chosen to be imprinted on every American penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and dollar we have. What does it really mean to trust God?

The Bible has a story in Exodus the fourteenth chapter that describes the kind of trust that God offers. When the Israelites had left Egypt and were beginning their journey to the Promised Land, Pharaoh and his best army decided to chase after the Israelites to force them to return as their slaves. When the people of Israel realized they were about to be attacked, they panicked.

They cried out to God to save them and yelled at Moses for getting them into such a mess. As they grumbled and complained with fear, Moses said: "Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord save you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm" (Exodus 14:13-14).

True trust is believing that the Lord Himself will fight for me. The good news is that when God is doing the fighting, I don't have to panic or be afraid. God always wins. Trust in God and become a part of His victory.

God not only won the victory over the Egyptians by supernaturally parting the waters to save the Israelites and then rushing the waters back to sweep the enemy away into a watery grave, He also won the victory over all the evil forces that persuaded Pharaoh and his charioteer to sacrifice their lives for the sake of evil.

God is a God of victory over all SIN, all DEATH and all EVIL powers. Therefore, God alone is worth our total TRUST. The next time you handle money, you can confidently say: "In God I Trust!"

Let's pray: Almighty Trustworthy God, I repent of the times I have not trusted in You to save me. I repent of panicking with fear when I am attacked. Give me faith to trust that You will fight for me. I promise to remain calm. AMEN.
