There Is Power In Living Holy

We have the nature of God abiding within us.

Acts 1:8 (NIV):

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

You are currently living in the “after”, but are you dwelling in the “before?”  Bury your past, and stop pulling it with you into the future.  I’m serious.  Some of us can’t move forward for looking back.  Remember Lot’s wife?  She looked back, and turned into a pillar of salt.  We can’t go forth in the things of God if we can’t let go of the past.

It’s time to have a funeral for our yesteryears.  God forgives us, so who are we not to forgive ourselves?  I’ve been there, and it’s not an easy place to be, but you have to, in the name of Jesus, silence the critical voice of the enemy that tells us that we’re no good, and reminds us of what we did, or were, back in the day.  God has a purpose for your life.  What word did He send to your spirit?

Luke 24:48-49 (NIV):

You are witnesses of these things.  I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.

God has already given you the equipment to go forth in your destiny, but you’re feeling the chains of your past.  Jesus died for your past, so break free from your bondage!  Don’t allow the enemy to oppress you with guilt and shame concerning what happened a long time ago.  Even if it was in your recent past, let it go, and use it as a testimony about the goodness of the Lord, and how He set you free, and encourage someone else to not make the same mistakes.

I really believe that if the older saints in the Lord would share some of their “war stories” with the younger folks in the faith, it may keep us from travelling some hard roads, and tears from falling.  Like the song goes, “if we live right, Heaven belongs to us.”
