1Pet5:8 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that "He may lift you up" "in due time"
When Little Bear was three she had asked, "Grandma, are you going to teach me how to fly?" Smiling I shared with her, "When it is your season." I shared this precious moment with her mother. "Oops!".... "Mom, this is great, next thing you know, Little Bear will be jumping off of roofs and out of windows." My heart saddened. I knew anothers fear and not truly hearing could quickly snuff out anothers hope. Pressing on in love, I continued to feed and care for the seed within Little Bear. Feathers I shared, many she decided to hold on to. This past year, Little Bear started her first day of school. Grandma was there with the camera. As the bus was pulling up, I bent down to whisper in her ear, "Little Bear, today you will learn how to 'use' those wings." Little Bear turned to me, "Grandma, I think I'll just walk over to the bus." As I was watching her leave, I could see her wings and understood a new season was beginning for her to receive new feathers from another.
It was a beautiful afternoon 7 years ago. I took the the jeep apart removing the top, and headed over to visit a childhood friend. Beth had a special gift, David, her son with Cebral Palsey. He was wheel chair bound with no control of limb movements. Otherwise, he was your typical 10 year old. She shared with me one time how he wanted to ride in my jeep with the top off. After getting him into the jeep, David and I took off for the skies, leaving his wheel chair and mom behind. All of a sudden, two little arms went flying straight up in the air. There they stayed, along with a smile, and cheering, louder then the Dallas Football Cheer Leaders. Praises lifted, the wind that day not only carried a little ones spirit, but also tears as I was driving, watching my friend finally free and soaring.
Eagles go through a daily morning process of preening their wings. After doing so, they wait. And they wait. Wings prepared, yet they still stand at the edge of a cliff and they wait. Other birds could be out hunting, or a rabbit could be in sight, yet he continues to stay and wait. He waits for the warm thermal currents. When it is time, he just leans forward into the winds to lift him effortless into flight. ( Isa40:31)
Ecc3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. Timing is important. Seasons are important, but at their certain times. If one wants to know how to wait: rest in peace, knowing and accepting that Gods timing is perfect. Who better to trust your time with, but God, who is in total control of time. (Gen1:1-3, 2Kings20:11 Mt24:36, Jas4:13-17) 1Pet5:8 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that "He may lift you up" "in due time". There are two choices: flapping and chasing after the winds, or waiting on Gods seasonal timing to soar. Whisper: Two children wanting to soar. David knew it was his season. The winds lifted his arms as he took off for the skies. Little Bear knew that her season was to continue to wait. It was not her time yet. But until then...the two of us will wait.
