Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
The search for God and prayer
After these things came to pass that the sons of Moab and Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying against you is a large crowd from across the sea, and Syria, and here are Hazazon-tamar, which is En Gedi. Then he was afraid, and Jehoshaphat turned his attention to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 2 Chronicles 20:1-3
In the reign of Jehoshaphat, a huge army assembled to attack the nation of Judah. His response to the situation may guide us in handling our crisis.
The Bible says that the king turned his attention to seek the Lord "in prayer (v. 3). So our best answer, when facing difficulties, is to cry to our heavenly Father. As children of God, we can be sure that He loves us and cares about the details of our lives.Through the cross, God instituted a new covenant for those who put their trust in the Lord Jesus (Luke 22.20). He agreed to forgive our sins, adopted into His family, and watch over us. This salvation is not dependent on our good deeds, but the finished work of Jesus, who died in our place (Eph 2.8). God also sent His Spirit to live in us as proof of our salvation, and to be always with us. He is interested in every aspect of our lives and promises to hear our prayers.
Jehoshaphat was prepared for this crisis because it had developed the habit of seeking the Lord in various situations (2 Chron 19.3). If you want to be prepared for the unexpected, then we must discipline ourselves to seek God each day, acknowledging His Lordship and our dependence on Him
By examining our thoughts and habits of life, we know if our focus is on the Lord or other things. If we start our day thinking about God, not in our plans, and if you read the Bible regularly and put it into practice, showed a heart that seeks the Lord.
