“TODAY” Live each day as if it were your last.
“I said to myself. I’m going to quit complaining! I’ll keep quiet, especially when the ungodly are around me. But as I stood there silently the turmoil within me grew to the bursting point. The more I thought about it the hotter I got, inside. Then at last I couldn’t hold it any longer. I spoke, plead with God: Lord, help me realize how brief my time on earth will be. Help me know that I am here a moment more. My life is no longer than my hand! My whole lifetime is but a moment to you. Proud man! Frail as breath! A shadow! And all his busy rushing ends in nothing. He heaps up riches for someone else to spend. And so, Lord, my hope is in you. Save me from being overpowered by my sins, for even fools will mock me then. Lord, I am speechless before you. I will not open my mouth to speak one word of complaint, for my punishment is from you. Lord, don’t hit me anymore – I am exhausted beneath your hand. When you punish a man for his sins, he is destroyed, for he is fragile as a moth-infested cloth; yes man is frail as breath. Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my cry! Don’t sit back, unmindful of my tears. For I am your guest. I am a traveler passing through the earth, as my fathers were. Spare me. Lord. Let me recover and be filled with happiness again before my death.” (Psalm 39)
“Give Us THIS DAY Our Daily Bread.”
“I cry unto You DAILY.”
TODAY – THIS DAY (Priestly role)
“TODAY is the day of salvation.” “Inwardly renewed day by day.”
“This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
We need to pray TODAY “Our Father”, “Holy”, “Thy will be done”, “Thy Kingdom come”, “Give us’, “Forgive us”, “Lead us”, “Deliver us”.
The importance of performing the role you give to us for THIS DAY as Prophet, Priest, King. (Faithfulness is much more to be found) On behalf of “Our” for “Us”.
A Prophet – Says what God says, His say-so, proclaiming God’s Word. Speaks forth God’s righteousness. Predicts what God may or may not do.
A Priest – Intercedes. A go between, sacrifices, stands in the gap.
A King – Serves his kingdom, forgives his subjects, rules, reigns, provides, and protects his domain.
“And has made us Kings and Priests unto God His Father’ to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen!.” (Rev.1:6)
Wrapped in His robe of righteousness to rule and reign righteously. Aaron wore a ‘epod’ when coming to the Lord and on his shoulders were the names of the children of Israel that he named daily in his high priestly duty. (Could we shoulder “OUR” family names, friends and neighbors.) Inside the breast pocket was the ‘thumin’ and ‘urim’, next to his heart for decision making. (casting lots)
Jack Hayford confirms this Scriptural principal he caught from his Dad. Lord this concept you set as an example in our approach to you on behalf of our family as Aaron bore the tribal names of Israel.
“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another DAILY, while it is called TODAY; lest any of you be hardened through deceitfulness of sin. For we are partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.” (Heb.3:12-14)
“It’s not over, ‘til it’s over.” (Yogi Bear?)
“While it is TODAY if you will not harden your heart as in the provocation. (Heb.3:7,8) Provoke not your children to wrath, not easily provoked, turning from God, deceived, complaining.” (provoker, you know who you are.) Dad!
