I am saddened by those on a stage who speak hurtful, harmful, and mean spirited words of others....but my heart cries out even more for those in the audience who hear, laugh, and applaud. They feed the mean spirited, with endless echos of cheer. An audience of silence would starve the speaker.
A man wakes up before sunrise to hunt. On his left shoulder rests his quiver filled with arrows and in his right hand he carries his bow. Does he leave with a target in mind? If so, does he then not know the direction in which he must go? Does he see his target right off...or does he have to search for prints left to follow? The silence and wait are his keys in a successful return. ***
Same holds true for the hunted***
Ones faith, opinions, decisions, and beliefs today are often called up to the front lines for discussion, debate, or even under attack. Ones walk becomes a bullseye for others to aim their arrows of words toward. Respect for others has been tossed into the winds. Sadly, I am even seeing this more and more within families. Dividing lines are drawn and arrows of words start being released. Many are left alone, hurt and wounded. The applause continues to echo, "another one down for the count." The Lord has spoken to me often on this....
not on the topics for debate, but on the process.
***Mt7:6 Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs.***
***Eph6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. v14 Stand firm... Stand is found 3 times in these 2 verses. Not to run, not to give up, not to give in...but to stand. (Mt 16:18). The Lord tells us in Ephesians to
STAND in the full armor of God. v18 tells us to PRAY. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always "keep on praying" for all the saints.
Pray, Prayer, Praying...we are told 3 times in this verse to pray...not to argue, discuss, attack, debate...but to pray.
***Ecc 3:7b a time to be silent and a time to speak... Precious Lord, there comes a season when discussion, disagreements, and debates produce unwanted, unwelcomed outcomes. Lord, I pray for discernement with Your pearls that You trust me with. In silence, and in due season...there is a time I need to not only continue to stand wearing Your full armor, but to remember to "keep on praying". Precious Lord, as the hands of time coninue to beat, may we remember to keep in step with your message...the message of love... YSisterIC, Brown Eagle
Whisper: Silence in prayer would starve and end any debate.
