AND I WON’T TAKE IT BACK

Dark shadows waiting on every corner; no solace to be had.
A spirit scarred and wrecked; I had become filthy and sad.
My self-esteem was non-existent; I had questions; no facts.
I need to memorize that darkness; and I won’t take it back.

Wandering without direction; dark years passed painfully by.
Feeling cast off; of no real significance; I wanted simply to die.
Though I knew of God’s passion; I knew of the Gospel’s facts,
The enemy controlled my decisions; I had to take my life back.

At the end of my life’s rope; not knowing my life’s preset time,
I recalled the one entity who could rescue me; spirit and mind.
My spirit was polluted; it had become indecent and dark black.
With repentance I cried to Christ Jesus; HE took my life back.

To all unbelievers; this state of affairs could be your life story.
If you let hell control you; hell’s sovereign will get all the glory.
All glory is God’s; even as I lived in sin; Jesus has had my back.
Jesus saved me from hell’s clutches; I am God’s own; that is fact.

In every poem I scribe; I adore telling a bit of this amazing story.
Every verse I pen is meant to give my God due respect and glory.
Jesus guides and empowers me; His love lights the narrow track.
Only Jesus saves and delivers; I said it; and I won’t take it back.
