Hosea 10:12

Hosea 10:12 (NIV)

Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.

There is a lot of love that people want to hold onto that fails.  Folks think that they know the meaning of the word love.  They love their family and friends.  They love their pets.  They love their favorite team.  All of that is well and good, but there is a love that surpasses all of that.  The love of God is supernatural and unfailing.  Even when we claim to love ourselves, it’s not like the way He loves us.  He loves us when we’re all cleaned up and looking good to the outside world, as well as when we’re dirty, nasty and funky on the inside, where nobody sees it but us and Him.  That’s real love, and He makes us righteous in Him.  Not as the world sees it, with a Nobel Peace prize, or a badge of honor, but what the world sees as unassuming, He sees as righteousness.  So, for those of us who have been hurt by those who we thought loved us, take heart, and break up the fallow and calloused places of our heart, and allow the love of God to come in and cleanse, heal and renew us.
