Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Leviticus 19:16 (KJV)
“Do not go about spreading slander among your people. Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord.”
One of the sad things about this world is that everyone loves to hear about someone else’s business. Gossip is all over the newspapers, magazines and internet. Companies make millions just for revealing secrets about famous people; whether it’s true or not doesn’t really seem to matter, but folks want to hear about it anyway. Many a life and reputation has been destroyed by people who refuse to shut up and mind their own business. It’s sad to say, but this mindset has crept into the church, and has caused scandals. The Word of God is clear on what we need to do. Gossip is slandering someone’s name and character. Even if it’s true, the Lord frowns upon it, and it should not be named among us. We must remove the evil conversations from within our midst and be very careful that our words don’t cause harm to our brother or sister.
