Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Proverbs 18:8 (KJV)
The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
We can pick up just about any magazine and read about the lifestyles of the rich and famous. People are constantly talking about the stars of the day, what they did last night, who they’re with, and what they wore. It’s funny how young people want to emulate them, because they find some endearing qualities. However, you can look at any gossip column and get the lowdown about how they live. But, I want to focus on the informants and talebearers that run their mouths and spill the beans on the stars’ secrets. What gain is there by telling everything you know about someone, good, bad or indifferent? When you’re talking or listening to these juicy tidbits, you’re most likely forming an opinion about the person being talked about as well as the one who’s listening. Basically, the Word of God tells us to shun the very appearance of evil, and regardless of how much fun we think it is to read, write or talk about other people, it corrupts our spirit, and takes our focus off of God and places it in the enemy’s camp. We must pray and ask God to help us to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches, and not get caught up in unnecessary drama. If we pray without ceasing, it will keep us too busy to respond to gossip.
