Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Psalms 18:3 (NRSV)
I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, so I shall be saved from my enemies.
I am uncomfortable referring to my antagonists as "enemies", Lord. The word enemy brings to mind political intrigues and military battles. But it's true that the people in my life who oppose me or who seek to harm me behave like enemies who have marked me as a target for their missions of ill will and their arrows of spite. What do I do, Lord? Since revenge is not an option, I'm calling out to You to defend me. Show me how to respond in each situation, whether I should turn and walk away or stand strong and demonstrate Your strength and grace. Meanwhile, I'll keep praising You because You're in control: You do vindicate and are able to rescue me, and You will not let me be overcome by my "enemies."
