Genesis 18:19 (NIV)

For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just.

This is the responsibility of the father, to guide and be an example to his children of having the fear and admonition of the Lord. Too many times, fathers are not taking responsibility for their children, because they either haven’t grown up themselves, or they’re too busy trying to make a name for themselves. A father has to follow God in order to be successful as a parent.
