Proverbs 1:7

Proverbs 1:7:  The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

We live in a society that fears absolutely nothing.  Society, privately and publicly, has no fear of the civil or criminal justice system, because they are often corrupt in themselves, with everyone from law enforcement officials to judges being paid off.  The innocent are prosecuted and the guilty go free.  Minor infractions get the maximum penalty while major offenses get a slap on the wrist.  Unfortunately, while all this goes on, people forget that God is omnipresent, and He sees all and knows all.  If we would think before we speak and act like we will, one day, have to answer to God for everything we have done in our lives, and that would make the difference between spending an eternity in the presence of God in Heaven, or an eternity in Hell with the enemy of our souls to be tortured endlessly forever, we would have more reverence for God.  Only a fool would be angry about being disciplined for something he deserves, without acknowledging God’s wisdom to get their attention in order to do better.
