Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Deuteronomy 5:21 (NIV)
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
In the pursuit of trying to keep up with the Joneses, we categorize people as the haves and have not’s. We look at what we have, and want more. More money, more power, more influence, more of everything. We look at our husband or wife, and want to trade them in for a newer (and in some cases, younger) model. We want the obese house in the country, with the Olympic size pool and full basketball court, so we can have a party without disturbing our neighbors. We want to have the lavish lifestyle. Sin has a price, but are you willing to pay for it with your life? Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying that if you have all these material things that you’re necessarily living in sin. However, if you don’t acknowledge the Creator of all things that gives you the health and ability to be able to make the donuts, move, live and have our very being, then we are wishing and hoping for more, and going about the wrong way to get it. The Word of God clearly says that we are to seek Him first, and all these things shall be added unto us. How about starting with “…give us this day, our daily bread…”
