Psalms 18:31-32
Psalms 18:31-32 (NRSV)
For who is God except the Lord? And who is a rock besides our God? - the God who girded me with strength, and made my way safe.
My gracious God! You know I look to no false god of this world - not to money or material things, not to prestige or power, not to intellect or skill - to sustain my well-being and happiness. All of these earthly things can disappear in an instant from the landscape of my life. History clearly reveals that life's amenities can be here one day and gone the next. Not so with You, Lord. You are rock steady, eternal and unfailing. You alone can keep me safe.
