Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
As a Christian, we should never seek to “keep up with the Joneses”, but thank God for humble beginnings. I’m not saying that it’s bad to have money, but keep it in its proper perspective. We don’t need the mansion with the four car garage, the Olympic sized swimming pool, the basketball court in the house, and maids and butlers waiting on us hand and foot. We need an intimate and personal relationship with our Creator, who loves us.

Woman of God keep these coming! The word money comes from the top seven demonic princes of Hell called Mammon. It is a prostitutes mentality of buying and selling as told by the prophet Hosea and the Apostle John in the book of Revelation. When we begin to think like God we give our tithes out of obeying God not to get something because God is not an ATM machine. In the kingdom the mentality believers should have is sowing and reaping!
We do not have to follow the Joness" because usually Mr & Mr Jones are in debt and baring making it when it appears they have it all. Like you said when God blesses his people it is okay but when we put our jobs, houses and cars before God they become idols. You are right the love of money is the root of evil and having money! We have to keep a pure heart and remove greed.
In Hosea 14 God begs Israel to return "1Return, Israel, to the LORD your God. Your sins have been your downfall! 2 Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him: "Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.3 Assyria cannot save us... 4 "I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them."
Luke 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
