Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Remaining Incorruptible Acts 8:9-24 The text said it all!!!!
OVERVIEW
The word Incorruptible means not subject to decay or dissolution, incapable of being bribed or morally corrupted. To Remain means to stay in the same place or with the same person or group,to continue unchanged. This lesson is admonishing us to take heed that God's gifts, talents, power etc. can not be bought with money. God's gifts, talents, power etc. is not a mere material object that can be purchased.
In the lesson Simon was a mortal man with socery powers. He used his powers very well, so much so that both high and low regarded him with great esteem. The people began to see Simon as a great man with powers equal to God. Simon himself believed the hype.
However, along came Philip preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, and performing signs, wonders, and miracles. The people's attention turned towards the Kingdom of God and many were baptized. Simon also believed and was baptized and went along beside the apostles. One day, the apostles laid their hands on the people and they were filled with the Holy Ghost. This made Simon want to buy this Holy Ghost power that he may lay hands on the people. Simon was rebuted by Peter and told him to repent for even thinking he could buy the gift of God.
The best thing Simon did was to ask the apostles to pray for him that the words of the apostles would not fall on him. Money have and has strayed a many preachers into corruption. We must take heed that we do not fall into corruption for fame, reputation, greed or money. We have to pray daily for God to keep us from corruption.
