This weeks lesson is "Serving One Another"
Scripture Reading ( I Peter 4: 1-11)
Peter tell us that by Jesus being born into the world in human flesh, He knows by experience what it feels like to have pain and suffering in the flesh. Why did Jesus suffer? Because He chose to do the will of God, even if it meant He had to suffer at the hands of evil doers. Those who follow Christ will suffer just as he did. That's why Peter said "arm yourself likewise with the same mind" meaning to trust, and love God with all your soul and mind no matter what the cost. God never said that we would be exempt from pain and sufferings but He did say in "I Peter 5:7 (NKJV) casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you". He loves us and He never wanted us to suffer. Suffering was a result of disobedience at the beginning of time. Arming yourselves basically means to chose not to fall into the evil things of this world, and we can do that by following the example of Jesus Christ...to sum it all up walk in "LOVE" as the Holy Spirit helps us.
Before we became believers we lived worldly lives, following in the things of the flesh, but now we are made new, so when we feel as though we may fall back into temptation Peter instructs us to pray for the strength of God to help us do His will instead of committing sin. For in the past we fell into temptation because we were not living by the things of the spirit, but the things our flesh desired and craved like lasciviousness (sexual desire), lusts (uncontrolled or illicit sexual desire or appetite), excess of wine (drunkenness), revellings (indulged in boisterous festivities, partying), banqueting (entertaining people), abominable idolatries (worshiping idols). But now we have been made new in Christ Jesus and by making this choice Peter tells us that people we use to hang with will find it strange that we don't indulge in fleshly desires anymore. There will be back lashing, judgement from man, and evil speaking against us, but there will soon come a time when we all will have to give an account, a reason, and a explanation for our misdeeds. As Pastor says "everybody can't go where you are going, they have to get it for themselves" he also said that "you will have to sacrifice something being a follower of Jesus". Jesus sacrificed His life, to follow God's will what makes us think we will not have to sacrifice something....
It's time that we take this walk of life serious we know not the time nor the hour of Christ return (Matt 24:36) so we must be sober (be alert) in our minds to watch, pay attention, and discipline ourselves for the sake of our prayers on behalf of others as well as ourselves. We have to many lost souls out there that need to be reached and it begins with prayer from every believer, and we should cloth ourselves with Charity (LOVE)! As I read this verse over and over again I got a different revelation this time, not trying to be deep but what I got from this verse and I know that everyone's interpretation is different, but if we put on LOVE, if we cover ourselves in it, breathe it, speak it, bathe ourselves in it, then we wouldn't have to worry about sinning and falling into temptation, that's how Jesus made it through. If we are covered in love that will take care of all sinful nature, thoughts, actions, and even the negative things we speak out of our mouths about one another. That means that LOVE will take care of EVERYTHING!!! John 3:16 For God so Loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life…So let's break this down....For God so LOVED the world that He gave His ONLY Son...God gave His Son out of LOVE, so that he could take care of EVERYTHING for us, not just some things but EVERYTHING!! And He did just that out of His LOVE for us!! That's what LOVE does, it takes care of EVERYTHING!!! For we know that God is LOVE!!! WOW! What an Awesome God we serve…LOVE will cover a multitude of sins. I'm not sure if you all felt that like I did, but LOVE covers EVERYTHING!!! Why can't we show love to one another like that.
We must be hospitable to others without complaining or mumbling against one another (follow His example). When God released Jesus to go out and reach others He served everyday of His life....up until the time of his death and resurrection Jesus served others, and He did so without complaining, He loved to serve, he loved to do the work of his Father, and He did it with a genuine heart. That was a gift He had and He used it just the way God instructed Him to use it. Each one of us have been given the gift of serving one another. What better way to use it than to help and serve others as faithful stewards of Gods grace, without murmuring and complaining, but serving and speaking the words of God, and being led by the by the Holy Spirit always giving God Glory, Honor and Praise in everything we do. We were all put here to serve in some capacity. Why not do it in Love, why because LOVE takes care of EVERYTHING!!! If we serve in LOVE we won't have to worry about complaining, because with love in our hearts and minds we would only see the good in what we do for others.... Always remember to Glorify God, forever and ever AMEN!!
