Hebrews 12:18-29

The message is this There was no escape under Moses & the Law and much more, there will be no escape under Christ $ Grace and He warns us of a great shaking& judgment of heaven & earth in the future To remove & change the material elements. To prove eternal elements

Heb 12:28"" Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:"

The Writer is giving us Two Approaches To God The Old and the New Covenants.The realty is we should be THANKFUL of the New Covenant

Notice what the Word Said

Heb 12:18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
Heb 12:19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
Heb 12:20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
Heb 12:21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)


Under the oldCovenant The first Approach to God was by the Law. There was two things done
A .people made sacrificial offerings of animals to God for their Sins. The Old Covenant Was a external worship b. Was to a Holy, distant God of judgment c. Was a reluctant, fearful approach To the people and to the Leaders

Verse 19&20 both the people and Moses feared what happen was this when God first began to give the law to Moses there was the blast of a trumpet then God spoke, the voice of God was so strong and forceful and the Ten Commandments so so conviction that terror struck the Heart of the people
. They cried out to Mosses
Exd 20:19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
The point is the Law cannot make a Man perfect it shows him where he comes Short of God'sGlory



Verse 22-24 The New approach :The New Covenant a.is a spiritual and heavenly worship b. is to the angels of God c. Is to the church of Christ d. Is to God, the Judge of all e. Is to the spirits of the righteous already departed f. Is to Jesus, the Mediator to the sprinkled blood of Jesus




This New covenant is different it not given in a earthly place Mont. Sinia But from Heaven



Verse 25that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

This is a warning there was no Escape from Moses the man God use on earth to give Man the Law,Jesus Christ is the One who spoke and brought the Word of God down from Heaven. The point is this when the people broke the Law given by a Man Moses not a single on escaped the judgment and punishment

Now Jesus the very Son of God speaks the very message of Heaven and of God Himself How much more shell no person escape judgment and condemnation if he refuse to hear the Word of God.

Verse 26-27 warning a new Heaven &. Earth remember when God spoke to Moses the earth was shaken but it not going to be the earth only the heavens will shake John talks about this A new Heaven & Earth
Hag 2:6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land

Verse 28 an unshakable kingdom of God can be received two ways are given
Let us be sure we have received the Grace of God Make sure that we have received God in our hearts and live

Act 15:11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

Tts 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

We must serve God with reverence and godly fear "reverence " (eulabeia) means with cautions, carefully
The phrase "godly fear" means being apprehensive because some danger can lurk over the horizon


Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.


Luk 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

We must serve God with reverence; we must serve Him with fear, for nothing must be allowed to disturb that relationship which will be our salvation when the world passes away
