Widow's Behalf

Hi All,
The lesson for Sunday, July 22, 2012 is "Acting on a Widow's Behalf."  Scripture: IIKings 8:1-6
 
                                                                               OVERVIEW
 
Have you ever been thinking about someone and suddenly they call you?  Have you ever been talking about someone the day or night before that you haven't seen in years and the very next day you run into that very same person that you was talking about?  Sounds like deja vue!  Well, in this lesson, Gehazi, Elisha's servant was in the presence of the King.  The King was amazed at all the exciting things that Elisha had done.  Bare in mind, it was not what God had done through Elisha, in the King's mind, it was the man Elisha himself, that the King was interested in. 
 
While Gehazi was telling the King that Elisha had raised a dead boy back to life, he looked around and heard the Shunammite woman crying out to the King.  Can you sense Gehazi's amazement at seeing the woman and her son there at the king's palace at the very time he was telling the King about her.  God's timing is awesome!  Nothing just happens! Nothing is just luck! Everything is in God's control.
 
This woman and her family was told by Elisha that a famine was coming upon the land where she was living and for her to move to another place until the drought was over. Sometimes, we have to move out of our comfort zone and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit for the greater good. This famine lasted for seven years and now, this woman returns to her homeland and approach the King for her land at the precise moment that Gehazi is telling the King about her dead son being brought back to life.  What an amazing testimony!  By the mere fact that the Shunammite woman and her son was there to verify Gehazi's story, added more credence to Gehazi's story about Elisha.
 
The King after hearing both the Shunammite and Gehazi was favorable to the woman's request to have her property restored to her.  The King added more than what she asked for.  Isn't that like God, to give you double for your troubles.  We as Christians are not exempt from trials, but we have a God who is a just Judge and with Him comes Justice, Peace, Love, Mercy and Restoration.
