Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Basic Intercession - Step 3 Tools/Weapons
The tools/weapons of our warfare, Paul says are not carnal, but mighty through God. . . And what are these weapons?
Firstly, there is the humbling ourselves before God, letting go, we really enter into God's presence, with our hands offered up in praise and worship. We lay before God, actually or in our mind, prone on th floor; hands clasped together in supplication, as we are alone. Or we can hold hands with another person as we pray together.
Next we put on the full armor of God, which is clothing ourselves in His righteousness, His Love, His Grace, His Mercy, and His Joy:
Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of
righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints;
So we are to begin being strong in the Lord and in the power of His might -- as an intercessor we are strong in the Lord and the Lord is in us as we noted earlier, and it is in God, the Lord that we live and move and have our being. We have strength and we have power - His, the Lord's power as He is a mighty God.
This is an awesome word spoken to those who ears have been opened by the Holy Spirit and who eyes of their understanding have been enlightened by the Holy Spirit -- in other words - we are prepared and brought to this place of authority in and through humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God, and as we are being raised into new life in Christ - we are empowered and strengthened to achieve that what God has purposed for us -- our reason for being.
Then in verse 11 we are told to put on the WHOLE - as entire - armor of God because we need to wholly covered in order to face the wiles or cunning influences and efforts of the enemy of our soul. The armor is reflective of our present relationship with God, and our maturity as well as anointing. You can only 'put on' what you are familiar with and know about.
The reason we need the whole armor is explained in the next verse.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, (1)
against powers, (2)
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, (3)
against spiritual wickedness in high places (4)
So it is not against flesh and blood that we wrestle - fight - combat against. So it is not the persons that are doing bad that we are really wrestling against -- no -- it goes beyond the flesh and blood and right into the spiritual arena -- which is why you are to be prepared for this battle - you must be led by the Spirit of God into the truth you need to be free to be clothed in the full armor of God -- so that you can deal with the 4 arenas that are in control over the lives of all on this earth -- until they wake up and pay attention -- and choose life - God's Life in Jesus Christ.
Now you need to do a thorough research in to the definition of the 4 spiritual levels of the enemy of our souls arena -- as he is the prince of the power of the air -- and that is where these 4 arenas are located in the air all around us -- unseen but influencing and controlling lives nonetheless.
After you have researched -- come back for the breakdown of our armor and what our armor is for us, in us and through us, in Christ.
We'll look closer at the amor after you study the principalities, powers . rulers of darkness and spritual wickedness in high places.
