Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
1 corinthians 13:1-13 worthless without love
any spiritual gift, no matter how well used, is worthless without love(13:1-3)love is the basis of all human virtues,expressing it self in many outward qualities of character and enduring when all else fails(13:4-10).motivated by love,we should lay aside childish talk and actions and act like mature believers,awaiting the day when perfection will come (13:11-12)faith,hope,and love are the most enduring of all human virtues, but even among these,love is the greatest (13:13) *because love is the root of faith and hope)*while faith and hope are largely personal,love is focused on others)*love is the very essence of god himself see 1john 4:8)+++(1 corinthians 14:1-19 tongues are good,but prophecy is better in public worship,the gift of prophecy is far more beneficial than the gift of tongues,for prophecy edifies the whole church,not just the individual; and unlike tongues, prophecy needs no interpretation. the goal should be worship that involves both the spirit and the understanding (14:15). though usually connected with foretelling the future,prophecy can include any activity that proclaims(we might say"foretells"the will of god for his people. the"prophet"of 12:29 has the gift of discerning and imparting truth on god's behalf
