Prayer provides a path or avenue to speak with Christ. It is a way for us to communicate our thoughts, ideas, troubles, and more with our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer is part of our direct relationship with our Savior.
Four Reasons for Prayer
There are many reasons to pray, but here are four of them:

We are in a fierce battle against the enemy
Prayer is a deterrent to sin in our lives

Prayer For Others
Prayer is powerful and makes an enormous difference in our lives. We often pray about our own individual trials and burdens. A faithful prayer shall be answered.
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. --James 5:15
Just as much we can see the power of prayer working in our own lives, it is even more important that we pray more for others than ourselves.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. --James 5:16
