"Be a gift"
Rom. 13:8 ¶ Don’t run up debts, except for the huge debt of love you owe
each other. When you love others, you complete what the law has been after
all along. -The Message Bible
Gifts and presents cannot replace love. Although we love to get them and
it is a very nice gesture, we cannot measure love with material things.
There has to be more. Jesus gave the greatest gift of all by giving
himself! He gave his time, and all 33 years of his life to mankind. He
spent his time in the streets with the people, walking with his friends,
the 12 disciples, and with his family. Then he died for us all. That is
true love and that is the true measure of love. Presents, gifts, trees,
food, etc. are nice to have, but how much love are you giving throughout
the year is what's really important.
Your time is a gift. Those that you love deserve to be around you more.
Your fellowship is a gift. Those that you call friend should have more time
with you to learn you and grow with you. Your patience is a gift. Those
that are around you that don't quite get it the first few times need you to
be long suffering. Your call is a gift. You must invest more time with God
and nurturing your call because many need to be helped by you. Most
importantly, your love is a gift. You must constantly give love, not
talking about everyone, or pulling people down. Not hurting those that hurt
you or stepping on those that intimidate you. Not fussing and complaining
all the time because things are not right with you. Not lying to everyone
and pretending to be what you are not. If you give love then you will reap
love. That is the greatest gift. Not just for Christmas, but throughout the
year. People need your love and you can benefit from the very love you
give. According to the bible, it will be returned if you sow it.
