Matthew 21:42 Normally, any time there is a collision, there is damage...either to persons or to things. If one vehicle collides with another, everything associated with both vehicles may be affected. In the same way, when a relationship crashes...whether it is in a corporate office, a ministry, or a family...it impacts everyone involved. The jarring and jolting will do varying degrees of damage, depending upon the nature of the relationship.
Remember, though, we don't have to die in the crashes and collisions of life. Annoying as it may be, a seat belt can save our life! A seat belt is not a restraint that forces us to live like a mannequin, but a protective device that will support us in an emergency. Similarly, we need spiritual and emotional seat belts as well.
Inner assurance is the seat belt that keeps us from going through the roof when we are humiliated; that holds us together when we are disappointed or downright rejected. It is the confidence that God is in control and that what He has determined no one can disregard.
If He told us He was going to bless us, then ignore the mess and believe the God who cannot lie. The rubbish can be cleared and the bruises will heal. Let's be sure that when the smoke clears, we are still standing. We're too important to the purposes of God to be destroyed by a situation that was only meant to build character and give us direction. No matter how crushed or devastated we may be, we are still here. Praise God! He will use the cornerstone developed through rejection and failed relationships to perfect what He has prepared.
Lift our voice above the screaming sirens and alarma of panicky people. Lift our eyes above the billowing smoke and spiraling emotions. Pull ourselves together. That incident could have killed us, but it didn't. Announce to ourselves and everyone else, "We are alive. We can laugh. We can cry, and by God's grace, we can survive!"
