Pressing Through The Storms of Life

Psalm 34:17,18 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

There are seasons where the storms of life hurt. Some storms arise without prediction, leaving one unable to brace and prepare. Wave after crashing wave, after wave, after crashing wave rolls in. There is no clear sky in sight. As each wave rolls in, it lifts you up and then carries you across the sand. Oh, the pain of your body as the sand scrapes against the skin. The pain when the heavy waves break on top of you, crushing the body. The winds and waves leave behind paths of destruction in ones life. Such confusion, such sorrow, such pain. As the under towing wave pulls you under, carrying you back out to sea, it crashes into the next wave that picks you up and once again you are drug across the sand.

The added painful truth, loved ones for miles are no where to be found. These are not our storms they say. Let us go in where it is safe.

Alone, worn out, broken....one cries out to God with the little from within that is left. How is God going to hear the whispers for help through the loud thundering skies?. The strong winds blow, the gusts mute out the cries for help. How will God be able to find one in the darkness of the storms? How will God know you are out there, hidden behind the breaking of the twenty foot crashing waves?

As I got close to letting go of any hope, I heard a gentle whisper...

1Ki 19:11 Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

God calmed the winds, God calmed the waves.

I looked up and towards the horizon, Gods rainbow of promise stood strong. God is able many times to use our storms. Romans 8:38 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Because of the many storms throughout my life, the Lord through an eagle shares His whispers. Brown Eagle 3/2/13
