Run Your Race
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)
Each of us has a race to run if we are going to fulfill God’s will for our life. He gave us keys on how to do it. First we are lay aside both weights or hindrances and sin or offences. If we do this, we will be light on our feet while running our race. If we feel alone as we run, we see from scripture that as we are running this race we surrounded by witnesses so we are not alone.
If you have ever seen a professional race or been a part of one you probably noticed that the runners are not looking around at each other to see what they are doing or how close they are to them. No, they are focused. We are to be focused as we run our race looking to Jesus as our example.
He knew what was ahead for Him and He still went through it. He was focused on the Joy! Glory to God! He was focused on the prize of pleasing His Father. So, run your race with that same focus and intensity and you will reach your finish line!
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the race that You have given me to run. I lay aside every hindrance and offence in my life which would derail me or slow me down. I focus on my Jesus and run my race with patience knowing with You, I will reach my finish line. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
