Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
those who wait upon the Lord
"The Lord satisfies your mouth with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle." Psalm 103:5
Attending Sunday school as a child, I had to learn memory Psalm 103, I was struck this verse 5, and it caught my attention because I do not understand. What I meant to "rejuvenate like eagles"? How to rejuvenate an eagle? Whichever way gave no explanation found him and ended up thinking it was just a nice phrase, a poetic image. I could see the majestic flight, those huge wings planning under a clear sky and blue ... It was certainly a beautiful sight.
Years have passed, and now that my youth is a memory and I face the reality that I have to work every day to do things you did with ease, the word "rejuvenate" takes on new interest. Not only because my physical strength is reduced, but because I ask whether, from the spiritual point of view also "age." Sometimes we feel as though we lacked the courage, hope, and even the strength to go forward with our testimony, our activities, our ministries, and I think it would be good for a renewal, rejuvenation.
I remembered something I saw on the internet some time ago related to the eagles that has gained force because of my current circumstances.
It appears, as scholars have found these birds, the eagles, who tend to live about 25 years. At that age, they enter a stage in their feathers begin to fall, and its peak spent no longer serves only to feed. At that point, the Eagles can let it die. They can not fight the cold of the mountains during the winter, being unprotected by the loss of their plumage, and may die of starvation because they can not use its beak to get food.
But there is another option. Some eagles (and I hope they are the majority!) Raise your flight, in a tremendous effort for his weakness, even the most inaccessible peaks and lonely, and there are started with the peak, one by one, they still have feathers , and then hit their peak against the rocks used to wrest. Then, little by little, becomes coated with a new plumage, and a new peak will grow back.
I do not know how long it takes this process of rejuvenation, but what these scholars mention of birds, is that these eagles can live another 25 years after renovation
This example of the Eagles has given me many useful applications. When we feel weak spiritually, no matter neither age nor the circumstances, we can "let us die", resigning (hateful word) as if it were something natural that comes with time, or we can choose to "take off", throwing our worn habits, and expect to receive new strength but while waiting we have to go through a stage of pain and testing. Worth it, because we will rejuvenated and strengthened to continue our work.
