Webster defines fear as
“an unpleasant, often strong emotion cause by anticipation or awareness of danger.” Fear is a very painful emotion, often followed by alarm. When we are fearful, it simply means that we have allowed some object or some other person or some situation to become so large in our consciousness, in the way we see it, in the appearance of it, that we become fearful of it and lose control of ourselves. Then the fear, the thing we dread, seems to be in total command of us. Our lives feel ruined and out of control. But we don’t have to be afraid. Fear is an emotion, and emotions are ours to control; the emotion does not control us, we are in charge of the emotion. The best way to work with fear is to get a better understanding of God’s word, a better understanding of who we are in relationship to God, and to work with the Divine plan for our betterment.
Fear Is Man-Made, Not God-Given
What we need to become convinced of is the words in
2 Timothy 1:7: “God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and or sound mind.” I take this to mean that we cannot overcome fear with human power, but by the Spirit of the living God that is within us. That what most of us don’t realize. When we call forth the power of this living Spirit within us, we don’t have to be fearful. To condition your mind to seek the Truth and to focus your thoughts on your highest good and to learn the word God for yourself.
