Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer

                              What is Love?

1 John 4:7-21 (KJV)

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

We look at love in so many different ways, and miss use love. Love is more than a word! We use love sometimes in the wrong ways, one is money, we think money can by anything even love or friendship and even time. 1 Tim 6:10-11 (KJV)

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

(We can't buy love or even salvation or the gifts of God.)

Acts 8:18-20 (KJV)

18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. 20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

2. The love of this world.

We love the worldly things more than we love God, the love of homes, car's or anything that we can get here in this world. (Material things)The things that we have here will all perish, and we can't take it with us when we leave this life.

John 3:19 (KJV)

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

3. The real meaning of Love.

The real meaning of love is, one how we love our wife or husband. Eph 5:25 (KJV)

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Love is strong and has a very big part in our life, I have a love for my wife that I would even die for her, just as Christ died for us. But here is a love that many today can't understand, we love our family and our friends but do we really know the meaning of love? He says to love one another, for love is a very big thing for God. Now let us look at real love and can we live up to this kind of love? 1 John 3:1 (KJV)

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

God loved us so much that he sent his only begotten son to this world to not only tell of love but to show us how to love

.John 3:16 (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 15:13 (KJV)

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Can we or do we have that kind of love? That we would lay down our life for others! There is no greater love than the love of Jesus Christ, not only does He love us but that he died for us and He shed his blood for us so that we could have life through Him. He laid His life down for us! Are you willing to lay your life down for Him? Love conquers all.
