When Discouragement Comes Knocking

What does it mean to be discouraged: to deprive of courage, hope, or confidence; dishearten; dispirit.
There will come a time when we will experience discouragement in one form or another and there are times when it will come from those that are closest to us. What we cannot allow is the jaws of discouragement to clamp down on us. When we allow it to rest on or in us it causes us to walk out of character. At times it will cause us to want to go back to what we use to do because of the fact that we are so discouraged

But- On the contrary: The Word states

(2Cor. 4:8)

We are hard pressed on every side but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Hard-pressed – heavily burdened
Crushed- overwhelm with confusion
Perplexed – bewildered, puzzled
Despair – hopelessness
Persecuted – harassed persistently
Abandoned – forsaken
Struck –thrust forcibly
Destroyed – rendered ineffective
What is this scripture saying?

We are heavily burdened on every side but not overwhelm with confusion; bewildered, puzzled but not in hopelessness; harassed persistently, but not forsaken; thrust forcibly down, but not rendered ineffective.
When discouragement comes knocking let that spirit know that it is not welcome here. We must speak to that spirit and tell it that:
I am convinced that neither death nor life neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38 & 39) Be encouraged
