Mt16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

I can remember one time picturing spiritually in my mind, myself standing on the shore, facing the vast ocean in front of me. The Lord was calling me to come out. There I stood on the shoreline with my luggage that I had been carrying around for years. One suitcase contained depression, pain, hurt, loss, loneliness. Another bag held lack of trust, defeat, and low self esteem. Another suitcase held sufferings, painful childhood memories, fear. Quite the load that I had been saving and carrying around for years. This was a turning point for me in my Christian walk. The Lord called me to come out. The Lord that day wasn't beside me saying, "Here let me carry this for you." He was calling me out to the deep to follow Him. For years I was following Him, but I was falling so far behind. My luggage was slowing me down. This was a season for me to let go. I knew I would sink, carrying all of this excess out into the water. That day years ago, I set it down on shore and with my hands now totally free, I picked up my cross and followed.

Mt16:25 goes on to say: For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. Set down the luggage.

Gal5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Whisper: Lord, could this also apply to excess luggage? YSIC Brown Eagle

We have a saying with Little Bear when something at home gets broken: "Don't worry, Pop Pop can try and fix it." Some pieces are not fixable, but yet they are still usable.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I collect pottery. Each piece is beautiful. Some are smooth with bright shades. They are perfectly shaped, with no visible flaws. I also have other pieces just as beautiful. These pieces are worn on the surface with faded colors. Some are chipped, cracked, or broken in places. Whisper: some are held together with glue.
Today for some pieces of broken pottery, I hear whispers in the winds of: worthless, replace, not good enough, no more use or purpose for, toss, imperfect, upgrade, unfit. Sadly these words speak towards people as well. Isa45:9 Rom9:21

Some pieces the Lord may choose to fix/glue. Isa61:1-3 reminds us: to bind up the broken hearted, to bestow on them beauty for ashes. Psm147:31Pet2:4

But then, there are some pieces that the Lord sees no need for fixing.
2 Cor12:7-10 reminds us that Paul pleaded with the Lord to take away his thorn in the flesh. v9 But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." 1Cor1:28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, Isa 55:8 Acts2:6Mt5:3-12 James2:5

Lord, not all broken pieces need removed, replaced, or glued. Through Your grace, I see Your glory shining through broken clay pots. Others see Your light, not the brokeness. It is Gods love for us that binds and holds these broken pieces together. YSIC Brown Eagle

Matt 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move."

Great strength exists in the smallest things. The spiders web is so exquisitely formed, a fragile, delicate remnant, yet is stronger in proportion to size and weight than the finest steel.

Mark 11:22-25 v.24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

If we need something and we have asked for it through prayer, then get ready to receive it. Getting ready to receive it is a part of the asking, an act of faith that the answer is on its way.

We do so little to prepare for it and when it happens the first thing we say is, "I can't believe it." Whisper...Believe it, because it is the assurance of receiving. Your Sister In Christ, Brown Eagle

Mt19:30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. Lev28:13a

My husband came home from work one day needing to share with me what one of the owners of his company had said to him that day. "Nice guys always finish last." My first response was that of the natural, "At least they finish," but I knew spiritually it went much deeper then this. You do not have to finish first to be a winner.

Much of todays power, prestige, wealth, leadership is bought or taken at the cost of others. I hear echos of: it's a dog eat dog world, the strong overpower the weak, walk over them, whatever the cost, the term: backstabbing: in action to gain,.
Gods whispers teach us the Beatitudes Mt5:3-12 that position, authority, and money are not important in His kingdom. What matters is faithful obedience from ones heart.

What matters to God is not ones status (position), wealth, heritage, or power, but ones faith and commitment to Christ. Acts10:34,35 1Cor3:12-15 Gods approval should far outweigh human disapproval. Gal1:10 Am I trying to win the approval of men, or of God? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. Whisper...Eternal rewards are not worth forfeiting for temporary benefits.

Lord, prayers lifted that one day I may be able to repeat the beautiful words spoken from Paul in 2Tim4:7: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Lord, wisdom has taught me that finishing first is not of importance Spiritually, but in how I run in the race. I am learning to run beside the other runners, and to run behind a few, so that we will all cross the narrow finish line together as winners for Christ. YSIC Brown Eagle

As a child, I remember playing tug of war. The game would go back and forth, until one side would eventually be pulled over the line.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

At times, life can feel like this for an individual. Two teams: on one side you have the Natural verses the other side, the Spiritual. You have the world with many pulling, trying to bring the one who is spiritual over the line to their side. The team could be one of family, employees, neighbors, friends, or even a group of church members. Back and forth one goes closer each round to that line that seperates the two. Whisper...if you want to win this game spiritually, SET DOWN THE ROPE. Psm62:2 Mt16:24

Mt16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." SET DOWN THE ROPE.

Lord, I am learning that not all finish lines are worth crossing over. I am learning that there are certain games that have no winners. The words I will listen to: is not pull, but take up and follow. Precious Lord: and the only finish line that I need to cross over, is the one with You standing there, calling for me. A four years olds testimony of the day God shared her balloons with angels.

Wednesday was Pop Pops birthday. My granddaughter who's four, wanted to give balloons. We set out bundeled up, due to the north winds strength. She picked out two and was so pleased! As I was loading the car I heard a voice calling Grandma. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She was pointing to the sky, the balloons were in the sky. That north wind had taken the balloons. I got her out and kneeled down to comfort her. She was looking to the sky and telling me they were gone. I looked up and she was right...no balloons in sight. Tears of disappointment were still trickleling down. I shared with her they were not gone. Gods hand had reached down through the clouds and He has the balloons and that I knew there were some children in heaven that would really enjoy them. We went back in and got a few more and at the check out, we were approached by quite a few people who caught wind about the other balloons. I looked to Little Bear and asked her to share what happened to the balloons. She told them boldly that God had them. I then asked her to share what God was going to do with them and she shared that He was going to give them to the children who were in heaven. Little Bear stood there resting assuridly. Praises lifted that the people who were waiting behind us at this point were in no hurry, just smiling.

Preaching, With Substance: High Wind, Big Thunder, No Rain!
2 Tim.4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

message in a bottle

The story is told about an old American Indian who attended a church service one Sunday morning. The preacher's message lacked real spiritual food, so he did a lot of shouting and pulpit pounding to cover up his lack of preparation. In fact, as it is sometimes said, he "preached up quite a storm." After the service, someone asked the Indian, who was a Christian, what he thought of the minister's message. Thinking for a moment, he summed up his opinion in six words: "High wind. Big thunder. No rain." Yes, when the Scriptures are neglected, there is "no rain." Only when preaching is based on God's Word are His people blessed and refreshed.

Four Seasons of a Tree

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Don't judge a life by one difficult season.

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no - it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but one season in the tree's life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are - and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life - can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.

The Wolves Within

the storyteller

An old Grandfather, whose grandson came to him with anger at a schoolmate who had done him an injustice, said, "Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times."
He continued, "It is as if there are two wolves inside me; one is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offense when no offense was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way."

"But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."

The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"

The Grandfather solemnly said, "The one I feed."

Walnut Col. 3:3

This is for those who might be having a rough day at work, mourning a loss, facing a town bully, medical issues, falling short, bills growing while moneys stretched out all ready, having problems pleasing others, didn't do quite as good as we would have wanted too, chore lists growing......

In Colossians 3 verse 3 God tells us, "For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."

One way I explain this verse is that you take a black Missouri walnut. I'm sure we have all had our experiences with them. On the outside is the soft shell, that when you crack and peel it, they leave that black stain on your fingers for days. Next you have that hard shell to crack, and then the nutmeat is inside. It's like that for us. I know that when things are coming at me, it goes through the soft shell, God first, and then the hard shell, Christ, before it ever gets to me, the one inside. I know that I'm protected within two layers and whatever is going to happen, that it's going to have to go through the first two layers, God and Christ first before it ever reaches me. I know that I'm going to be ok, I'm not alone, I have a place of comfort and peace to retreat too. God is in complete control and in charge of everything that occurs in my life. This gives me a lot of comfort. Your sister in Christ, Brown Eagle

Native American Circle of Friends

The Native Legend says that at the end of the evening, friends would gather around a bonfire and share their hearts and speak of the good qualitites of each other. They reflected upon times shared, as the embers faded, their friendship was said to be sealed anew, bringing them closer together.

A tool for the Christian toolbelt for encouragement and edifying others.
When I am asked to speak at groups: be it either churches, schools, scouts, bible studies, retirement communities... ...I always enjoy closing with the friendship circle.
This usurally works best when groups are divided into 10-20 people in each. I have everyone form a circle, join hands, and explain to them the friendship circle. Sometimes I will light a candle in the middle of our circle to represent Christs presense and He is the center of our friendships/ head of the body of Christ.I then have each one take their turn and look at the person to their left and say to them: ...you are special and a good friend to me because...I am blessed to have you as my friend because...you mean a lot to me because..." and give their reason[s].Once we are finished going around the circle...I then ask for someone to please close in prayer and to lift all of these blessings and praises... because they all belong to Christ and to His glory. When finsished the candle then is blown out. The responses during and after this have been amazing and awesome! The next time you are in a group or even at home around the table for supper...you might just suggest or offer this as a closing. Being able to witness the responses from others receiving kind words has been for me just as much of a blessing as hearing the kind words from ones heart. In Christ, Brown Eagle

Tearing Down Walls

Isa58:12b...You will be called Repairer of Broken Walls Heb11:30

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I became a master craftsman in masonry during my childhood. My skill was in building walls. Walls to protect me from those who were hurting me and causing me pain. Walls that grew strong over the years to keep others at a safe distance.

These walls needed to come down. I was attending a local church and my pastor wore a rope around his waist. Every service my eyes and thoughts focused on that rope, leaving only painful memories from childhood. Instead of hearing, learning, and growing...past echos were felt and heard. After a few weeks of this, ENOUGH! I went to my pastors office. In silence, on the table between us, I set down a brick. After a few tears...I asked him to please take it, I didn't need it anymore and then I quietly left. The details weren't needed. The following Sunday, the pastor came out, I did notice the rope. I told myself that I l had let it go and for the first time I was able to hear his Sunday morning message. That summer I literally handed out many bricks. It was the season to let go and "let God!" Rom8:37 The Lord that summer truly proclaimed freedom for this captive and bound my broken heart. Isa61

We are unable to follow Christ with a wall in the way: Mt10:38 Php3:13,14: but: these natural bricks could be used as spiritual stepping stones for wisdom, change, and growth on our path and walk with Him. Ps119:105
Rom8:39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else will be able to separate us from the love of God: Whisper....not even my walls. Lord, thank you for loving me through the walls until they came down. YSIC Brown Eagle

Natural Mountains turned into Spiritual Mole Hills

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Natural roads are rough these days. Traveling is difficult and overwhelming at times. Direction grows blurry...getting side tracked makes getting lost much easier. Anothers map is ineligible in ones own personal walk. Depending on the season...roads may become dangerous...to others fatal. Mountain ahead...possible job loss, loved one walking out, worn out, illness, finances at zero... and a few find dead ends...miles still continue on.

Open your map....Gods Word...for direction and guidance. (Isa. 48:17 Isa 58:11 Psm 139:9,10 Col. 3:2)

Facing the earthly mountain.... Mount Job Loss. Spiritual map...Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the Lord," plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Is that mountain starting to become a spiritual molehill yet... if not... press on...deeper. Phil 4:19 Psm 23:1 Luke 12:27-31 Matt. 17:20, 21 Ecc. 3:6

We cannot control trials, sufferings or the mountains along our path... but our faith and walk must not be hindered by them. (Matt. 17:20, 21) In faith...tell those mountains to move. Whisper...If you are unable to do this, turn your eyes away from the mountain and look to Christ for a deeper faith. Whisper...More faith...until you are able to see natural mountains become spiritual molehills. In Christ, Brown Eagle

Everyone either faces or is fighting some form of battle. Battles of fear, pain, lonliness, anger, temptation, hardships, difficulties, rejection...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

2 Ch. 20:15 b...This is what the Lord says to you; Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's.

We may not face an enemy Army, but everyday we face personal battles. When we pray and ask God to help us with these battles (struggles)...God "will" fight them for us. We need to realize our human limits...and that the battles are not ours, but Gods. "Let go...let God." We need to allow the Lords strength and power (Eph. 6:10) to work through our fears, weaknesses, and discouragements. During the most troubling times... claim the peace of Christ! (John 16:33b "so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Php 4:4-**7**)

With the Lords strength, power, peace... we may face battles...but the Lord fights them for us. Whisper...we are more than conquerors...

Php 1:6 being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Going through a new season of growing pains... sometimes it is hard for us to see the growth and change. One can only sense the soils restrictions... limits set by earthly weight and even by ones own self. Breaking through the soil...may be painful at times. The outcome from a new emergence we long to see.

We need to rest in the soil under the Son, because it is God who is watching and waiting for us to bloosom. It is the Lords purposes and plans that are preparing us. We need to "rest" on Php 1:6 that He (not I) who began a good work...(He not I) will carry it on....to completion.
