above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
Wicked-Poneros (greek)=full of labours, annoyances, hardships
pressed and harassed by labours
bringing toils, annoyances, perils; of a time full of peril to Christian faith and steadfastness; causing pain and trouble
bad, of a bad nature or condition
in a physical sense: diseased or blind
in an ethical sense: evil wicked, bad
The word is used in the nominative case in Mt. 6:13. This usually denotes a title in the Greek. Hence Christ is saying, deliver us from "The Evil", and is probably referring to Satan.
This is a chapter the children of the Savior are very familiar with. Seems as long as we can think back have been taught in every facet available about this teaching. This verse about the wicked ties well into verse 18 where he admonishes us with an adverb "watching" described as being awake, attentive, and ready. What are we watching for? Wickedness and temptations. Now its so easy to see others or some other entity bringing this on. But the only reason we can be tempted is because its usually something that we are possibly weak in, and the adversary may even very well be described as our own flesh.
Matthew 26:41 KJV
Watch and pray , that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Romans 7:18 KJV
For I know that in me (that is , in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me

It's easy to put up a defense when it's coming from somewhere else. How many of us can't see a weapon coming at us, even if we don't react on time. But what about when the adversary lies within?
The second thing he tells us is to pray. Confessing our sins, and asking the Adonai (Lord) for help. The faith of these prayers creates that shield that quenches the internal and external firey darts of wickedness, yes even when the "one"is us. That is why these weapons of our warfare and the rest of the armour takes care of "all" these darts. Now don't get discouraged take under consideration that all this protection is created out of love for us. What a great peace we would have if we would apply all that we are instructed to? Can you imagine not one of the firey darts from the adversary being able to hit you? Glory!!! Go ahead say glory with me!!! If you been shot at like I have you'd be shouting too!!!
Messiah is once again and always is deserving of the praise.
Matthew 11:30: "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." We know He used every spiritual tool Elohiym (God) makes available.
Not saying the enemy won't attack just that we have recieved instructions for deliverance from all wickedness. For theirs no temptation known to man that he does'nt know and yet he never sinned. And lastly there's no temptaion that we don't recieve a way of escape.
Watch for the adversary but remember he's coming in both directions inside and out. So don't forget Watch beloved but whatever you do don't forget to Pray!!!!
Shalom
