How do I find God? If someone were to ask you this question, how would you respond? What is a fairly simple question may not always be so easy to answer. Many in the Christian faith spend years searching for their idea of what, who, why and where God is. Knowing and believing in God but always feeling like there is either something missing or perhaps even something bigger. Today let us focus a little on how to find God, and maybe shed a little light on this subject.
First and foremost God finds us, we don’t find him. In John 6:44 we read a few words spoken by Jesus: “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day,” and in John 14:6 we read: Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me. Meaning we cant get to the father without Christ, and we don’t get to Christ without the father’s drawing .In other words that special day we all excepted Jesus into our hearts, It was because the father drawled us to him, and his holy spirit moved upon us to step forward and believe, and in doing so, Jesus Christ was able to reach his hand out and declared us a new creation, and open the doors for us to fully interact with the father. It was not do to merit, or status, or anything we had done. Just the fact our Father loved us, and promised in his word to do as is said in Luke 11:10: And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
But what does Scripture’s say about where the kingdom of God is, or where he can be found? In Luke 17:21 we read more words of Jesus. “Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” Jesus went on and said in John 18:36, Jesus answered, my kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Another word about the kingdom is found in John 3:5. It reads: Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."
The Word of God says we all have a certain measure of faith. In Romans 12; 3 It reads,” for I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith”. Using this faith, we are able to take our first step, second the father moves upon us and draws us into his son and our savior Jesus Christ. Thirdly, thru the blood of the lamb we have become a new creation and given the rights to approach the throne room of God.
To the question “how can I find God”. Use the faith God has given us already, surround yourself in his presence. Seek those things that are pure, honest, and true. Turn your back to those things that are of no good, but only evil. My friend, God has already begun drawing you now; buy the simple reading of these short words. Now simply say” Father show me more.”
