VERSE:
Psalm 44 (King James Version)
We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out. For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah. But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies. Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves. Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen. Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price. Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us. Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people. My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me, For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger. All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way; Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death. If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.
COMMENTARY:
Former experiences of God's power and goodness are strong supports to faith, and powerful pleas in Prayer under present calamities. The many victories Israel obtained, were not by their own strength or merit, but by God's favor and free Grace. The less praise this allows us, the more comfort it affords, that we may see all as coming from the favor of God. He fought for Israel, else they had fought in vain. This is applicable to the planting of the Christian church in the world, which was not by any human policy or power. Christ Jesus, by His Spirit, went forth conquering and to conquer; and He that planted a Church for Himself in the world, will support it by the same power and goodness. They trusted and triumphed in and through Him. Let him that glories, glory in the Lord, our Savior Christ Jesus. But if they have the comfort of His name, let them give unto Him the glory due unto it. The believer must have times of temptation, affliction, and discouragement; the Church must have seasons of persecution. At such times the people of God will be ready to fear that He has cast them off, and that His name and truth will be dishonored. But they should look above the instruments of their trouble, to God, our Lord Christ Jesus, well knowing that their worst enemies have no power against them, but what is permitted from above. In afflictions, we must not seek relief by any sinful compliance; but should continually meditate on the truth, purity, and knowledge of our heart-searching God. Hearts sins and secret sins are known to God, and must be reckoned for. He knows the secret of the heart, therefore judges of the words and actions. While our troubles do not drive us from our duty to God, we should not suffer them to drive us from our comfort in God. Let us take care that prosperity and ease do not render us careless and lukewarm. The church of God cannot be prevailed on by persecution to forget God; the believer's heart does not turn back from God. The Spirit of prophecy had reference to those who suffered unto death, for the testimony of Christ Jesus. Observe the pleas used, Not their own merit and righteousness, but the poor sinner's pleas. None that belong to Christ shall be cast off, but every one of them shall be saved, and that for ever. The mercy of God, purchased, promised, and constantly flowing forth, and offered to believers, does away every doubt arising from our sins; while we pray in faith, Redeem us for thy mercies' sake.
PRAYER:
Dear Beloved, Father in heaven, Our Lord and precious Savior Christ Jesus, we come before You in Prayer this morning, with a humble and grateful heart, for all of the wondrous things that You have done for us and through us. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, for sending the Holy Spirit unto us. Thank You that You have kept us and our families safe and that not one of us has been hurt or harm. Thank You Lord, that we, Your children know whom we serve and that You are our Lord of Lords, and The King of Kings. All Glory To God, and that Those who hate us will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked will be no longer, that You shall cause our enemies who rise up against us to be defeated before us; they will come out against us one way and will flee before us seven ways, You told us, "For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you," Thank You, Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. Holy Father, as we begin this new week, please accept our Thanks for every gift that you have given us for our body, mind, and soul, and especially for giving us saving faith and the promise of eternal life in Heaven. Thank You Lord, that we know that we are saved by Your death on the cross, and the blood that washed us from the stain of sin. O Bless that wonderful name of Jesus, the only name by which any man can be saved. Thank You Lord for we know that we have the victory over sin and death, through You. All Glory To God. Thank You Lord. Precious Lord if we have said, done, or thought anything that is not of You, we ask that You forgive us. Thank You Lord, Thank You Christ Jesus. Thank You Lord, Christ Jesus, that You have Blessed the whole Christian Church and all its members. Thank You that You love us and will never leave or forsake us. Lord we are asking You to look down on all of Your children this morning who are in need, those who are without jobs, homes, food, and medical care. Lord, please send someone to guide them and make them aware of what it is they need to do to get their lives together. For we know that You have told us that we can do all things through You who strengthens us. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Thank You that You care for each and everyone of us, even those that no not yet to call on You as Lord. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Thank You Lord for Your gift of Salvation, and that we know that all our sins are forgiven because You told us; There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come, God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God, Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life, For I will be merciful to their iniquities and I will remember their sins no more, I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins, Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon, I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the LORD'; and You forgave the guilt of my sin, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered!, Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, 'Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death, Straightening up, Jesus said to her, 'Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?' She said, 'No one, Lord.' And Jesus said, 'I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more, They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, 'for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more, Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water, For if you return to the LORD, your brothers and your sons will find compassion before those who led them captive and will return to this land. For the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate, and will not turn His face away from you if you return to Him. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Lord we Thank You this day that we fear no man. For we know that greater is He that is in us, then he that is in this world. Thank You that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. As we go forth into this week, Thank You that we Your children and are in You loving care. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You.
Now unto You, who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to You be the power and glory, to all generations forever and ever. Who has by the shading of Your Blood on the Cross, and raising from the grave, has proven Yourself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming. Today and everyday, for the rest of our lives, we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus. we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Father, i in the Holy and Blessed name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's body and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, Who is Lord Of Our Lives. Thank You Beloved Savior, Thank You.
Amen.
