Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer

Our Prayer For Today Friday, September 11, 2009

VERSE:

Psalm 17 (King James Version)

Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips. Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal. Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword: From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

COMMENTARY

This Psalm is a Prayer. Feigned Prayers are fruitless; but if our hearts lead our Prayers, God will meet them with His favour. The psalmist had been used to pray, so that it was not his distress and danger that now first brought him to his duty. And he was encouraged by his faith to expect God would notice his Prayers. Constant resolution and watchfulness against sins of the tongue, will be a good evidence of our integrity. Aware of man's propensity to wicked works, and of his own peculiar temptations, David had made God's word his preservative from the paths of satan, which lead to destruction. If we carefully avoid the paths of sin, it will be very comfortable in the reflection, when we are in trouble. Those that are, through Grace, going in God's paths, should Pray that their goings and coming, may be held up in those paths. David Prays, Lord, still hold me up. Those who would proceed and persevere in the ways of God, must, by faith Prayer, get daily fresh supplies of grace and strength from Him. Show thy marvellous loving-kindness, distinguishing favors, not common mercies, but be gracious to me; do as thou usest to do to those who love thy name. (Ps 17:8-15)

PRAYER:

O most Precious Holy Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, We come before You this morning Thanking You for keeping us to see this another day, to praise and worship and serve You. Thank You Lord, that no harm or danger did You allow to come near our doors. Thank You Lord, that You have accomplished our Salvation, creating us, redeeming us, and sanctifying us. Thank You Lord, Thank You. We Thank You Lord that You have kept us in the fellowship of the Saints and Blessed Your church everywhere. Lord Christ Jesus, we Thank You that You have granted that Your Word may be taught in all its clarity and purity. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Precious Lord, we ask that You, open hearts to receive it, and raise up more men, women, and children who know You as their Savior and worship You, and the Holy Spirit. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. Most Holy Christ Jesus, Bless pastors everywhere that they may preach Your true Word to the congregation, to the glory of Your name and for the salvation of souls. Merciful Lord of the church, Christ Jesus by whose Holy Spirit we are one and by whose Word the Spirit works, we Thank You each day for the servants You have given to teach and preach Your Word among us: the pastors, teachers, and missionaries. Lord Bless them in their work, O God, and Bless their work for the joy of the gospel of Jesus and the glory of Your saving name. Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You that You continue to supply more servants of the Word to the end of time by moving the hearts of the young among us to aspire to the ministry. That all may know You as their Lord and Savior, and call on Your name, which is the only way that any man can be saved. Thank You Lord, Thank You Christ Jesus. You have to us that if we Pray, asking anything in Your name it shall be done. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Heavenly Father, times flies so quickly. As we remember on this day the anniversary of 9/11, we still see its effects around us. Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You that have comforted us Precious Lord, through Your Word. For You told us that until the end of the earth, one of the consequences of sin would be wars and rumors of wars, hatred and anger would be inflicted on one another. Until that Last Day, Heavenly Father, watch over and protect us. Strengthen us so that we are able to help prepare others for that day, by pointing all people to the Cross, where You out of love for us, shad Your blood and died for our sins, and no matter what we hear, may we always listen to Your Word, that the world will not fall apart, until the last believers comes to faith, and then You will return. Thank You Lord, Thank You. You said; my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, i can do all things through Him who strengthens me, in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us, let no one boast in men. For all things belong to you, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God, if you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you, in that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full, all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive, therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you, blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight, He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him, for to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain, therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come, God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed, blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God who is our salvation, O' Bless That Wonderful name of Christ Jesus, Thank You Lord, Thank You. We Love You Lord, Christ Jesus. May we say daily, "Come, Lord Jesus!

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Who has by the shading of Your Blood on the Cross, and raising from the grave, has proven Himself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming. Today and everyday, for the rest of our lives, we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus. Father, i in the Holy and Blessed name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, Christ Jesus, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

Amen.
