Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
Our Prayer For Today, Monday, August 24, 2009
VERSE: Psalm 4 (King James Version)
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
COMMENTARY:
Hear me for thy mercy-sake, is our best plea. He who will not ask such Blessings as pardon, and justifying righteousness, and eternal life, must perish for the want of them. Alas! that so many should make so fearful a choice. The psalmist warns against sin. Keep up holy reverence of the glory and majesty of God. You have a great deal to say to your hearts, they may be spoken with, let it not be unsaid. Examine them by serious self-reflection; let your thoughts fasten upon that which is good, and keep close to it. Consider your ways, and before you turn to sleep at night, examine your consciences with respect to what you have done in the day; particularly what you have done amiss, that you may repent of it. when you awake in the night, meditate upon God, and the things that belong to your peace. Upon a sick-bed, particularly, we should consider our ways. Be still. when you have asked conscience a question, be serious, be silent, wait for an answer. Open not the mouth to excuse sin. All confidence must be pan answer. Open not the mouth to excuse sin. All confidence only: therefore, after commanding the sacrifices of righteousness, the Psalmist says, Put your trust in Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
PRAYER:
Precious Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You Lord, and give You all the praise, for waking us up this morning, bringing us to the start of another week. Lord, Christ Jesus, our hearts are grateful, and we love You Savior. Thank You, for the peace and rest that You have brought to us today. Keep us secure in the knowledge of Your love and continuing forgiveness. Help us throughout this week to remember the words of Your peace. And be with us always, even to the end of the world, according to Your promise. Lord, if we have done anything that is not of You, we are asking in the Holy name of Christ Jesus, that You forgive us, Thank You Lord, for we know that, If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us, Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account, Thank You Lord, Thank You, for You have taught us through Your Holy word that, Behold, the LORD's hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear, You said Lord, "For this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins". O Bless That wonderful name of Christ Jesus. Thank You Lord, we Thank You, for having given us the victory, through Christ Jesus, our Lord. Thank You Father. We live, Dear Father, with deep appreciation for all Your Grace and Mercy for this week, only in the sureness of Your forgiving love do we rest securely. Give us renewed vigor to serve You and live in joy, sharing Your love with everyone we meet. Thank You Lord, Thank You. We Thank You Lord that You protected us from all that seek to do us harm, for You promised us that, No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their vindication is from Me,' declares the LORD. The LORD is for me among those who help me; therefore I will look with satisfaction on those who hate me, to grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, for the scepter of wickedness shall not rest upon the land of the righteous, so that the righteous will not put forth their hands to do wrong, for in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock, and now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, and I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD, Thank You Lord, Thank You, Our Lord, and Savior Christ Jesus. Lord we know that You know each and everyone of us by name, You know our laying down and getting up, we know that You have already taken care of all of our needs, for You know just what each of us stand in need of, and we give You, Thanks. We love You, and we are so grateful to You Lord, Thank You, Precious Lord.
Now unto Him who is more then able to keep us, until the day of His coming, We give You Thanks this day, Christ Jesus, and every day for the rest of our lives, and this day, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in the Holy and Precious name of Christ Jesus. I commend our bodies and souls into Your loving hands Lord Christ Jesus.
