VERSE:
Psalm 40 (King James Version)
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy Faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation. Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me. Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified. But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
COMMENTARY:
Even a king's has fears and doubts, let's look at his Prayer for, confidence for deliverance. Doubts and fears about the eternal state, are a horrible pit and miry clay, and have been so to many a Dear child of God. There is power enough in God to help the weakest, and grace enough to help the un worthiest of all that trust in Him. The psalmist waited patiently; he continued believing, hoping, and praying. This is applicable to Christ Jesus. His agony, in the garden and on the cross, was a horrible pit and miry clay. But those that wait patiently for God do not wait in vain. Those that have been under religious melancholy, and by the grace of God have been relieved, may apply these feelingly to themselves; they are brought up out of a horrible pit. Christ Jesus is the Rock on which a poor soul can alone stand fast. Where God has given stedfast hope, our Lord, expects there should be a steady, regular walk and conduct. God filled the psalmist with joy, as well as peace in believing. Multitudes, by faith beholding the sufferings and glory of Christ Jesus, have learned to fear the justice and trust in the mercy of God through Him. Many are the benefits with which we are daily loaded, both by the providence and by the grace of God.
PRAYER:
Precious Lord Christ Jesus, we come before you this afternoon in Prayer and Thankgiving. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, that you made us and have provided for us and protected us each day of our lives. You are truly our loving Father. For this we Thank You. we Thank You for providing for our daily needs. We Thank You for Your rich Blessings. we Thank You for protecting us from all evil, for guarding us in perilous times, and for defending us from all our enemies. we haven't done anything to deserve this goodness, but we ask You to continue to Bless us. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. Christ Jesus, beloved Savior, we know the sins we have committed today. But by the power of Your Blessed Holy Spirit, let us remember Your dying love for us. You paid for all our sins in full with Your suffering and death. Thank you, Lord Christ Jesus. Your love for us, a sinner, is incomprehensible. With the assurance that we are redeemed and at one with the Father, now let us serve You with a refreshed soul and body. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Lord Christ Jesus, we know that we have been saved by Faith, not by any works least any man can boast, and that Your gift to us of Salvation is a free gift. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. For You have told us through You Holy Word that, But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy, For you are all sons of light and sons of day. we are not of night nor of darkness, For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance from until the end, You also, as living stones are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ, You are the salt of the earth, You are the light of the world, Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them, So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, And having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness, Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. O' Bless that wonderful name of Christ Jesus, the only name by which any man can be saved. Beloved Father, Thank You that You have assured us that, whatever You have for us to do, You have already prepared a way in which we can do Your will. Thank You that, You have also taught us that; Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding, A wise man scales the city of the mighty and brings down the stronghold in which they trust, So that your trust may be in the LORD, I have taught you today, even you, Trust in the LORD forever, for in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock, And again, 'I will put my trust in Him.' And again, 'Behold, I and the children whom God has given me, We had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead, Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Do not trust in oppression and do not vainly hope in robbery; if riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, for we will forever trust in You. Lord and Savior we Pray this day, believing that all we ask is already done, Thanking You that You will have Mercy on those that are sick and need healing, those who are jobless and need jobs, homeless, and need homes, the marriages that are broken and need mending, the children who no longer have love and respect for their parents and have turned to drugs etc. Lord Christ Jesus Thank You, for we know that Your plan to fix these things is already in progress, Lord we ask that You send the Holy Spirit to give Your children peace, and guidance as they wait on You, and the wisdom to move, get up and do that which You would have them to do, to receive Your Blessings . Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You.
Now unto You, who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to You be the power and glory, to all generations forever and ever. Who has by the shading of Your Blood on the Cross, and raising from the grave, has proven Yourself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming. Today and everyday, for the rest of our lives, we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus. we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Father, i in the Holy and Blessed name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, Who is Lord Of Our Lives.
Amen.
