VERSE:
Psalm 71 (King James Version)
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.
COMMENTARY:
David's Prayers that God would deliver and save. David Prays that he might never be made ashamed of dependence upon God. With this petition every true believer may come boldly to the throne of grace. The gracious care of Divine providence in our birth and infancy, should engage us to early piety. He that was our Help from our birth, ought to be our Hope from our youth. Let none expect ease or comfort from the world. Those who love the Lord, often are hated and persecuted; men wondered at for their principles and conduct; but the Lord has been their strong refuge. The faithful servants of God may be assured that he will not cast them off in old age, nor forsake them when their strength fails. The psalmist declares that the righteousness of Christ, and the great Salvation obtained thereby, shall be the chosen subject of his discourse. Not on a Sabbath only, but on every day of the week, of the year, of his life. Not merely at stated returns of Solemn devotion, but on every occasion, all the day long. Why will he always dwell on this? Because he knew not the numbers thereof. It is impossible to measure the value or the fulness of these Blessings. The righteousness is unspeakable, the Salvation everlasting. God will not cast off His grey-headed servants when no longer capable of labouring as they have done. The Lord often strengthens his people in their souls, when nature is sinking into decay. And it is a debt which the old disciples of Christ owe to succeeding generations, to leave behind them a solemn testimony to the advantage of Faith, and the truth of God's promises; and especially to the everlasting righteousness of the Redeemer. Assured of deliverance and victory, let us spend our days, in praising the Holy One of Israel with all our powers. And while speaking of His righteousness, and singing His praises, we shall rise above fears and infirmities, and have earnests of the joys of heaven. The work of Redemption ought, above all God's works, to be spoken of by us in our praises. The Lamb that was slain, and has redeemed us to God, is worthy of all Blessing and praise.
PRAYER:
Most Holy and Loving Father, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. we come this day before You in Prayer and praise. Thanking You Lord for all that You have done for each and everyone of us Your children. Lord God, we Thank You that You have not allowed any harm or danger to come unto our doors, Thank You Lord, that as we go about this day, we know that it is only You that have kept us, not that it is only You that can save any of us. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Father we love You and know that we must always be honest with You, so we confess that we know that in some way we have sinned, and we are Godly sorry for having offended You. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, that You have told us that; Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account, By sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ, Encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called 'Today, so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing, Saying, 'Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever, Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying 'Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready, Praise the Lord all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples praise Him, Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things, Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Most Precious Lord, we ask Your Blessing today on all of the men and women who are in harms way fighting wars, and the one that are being sent, for the sick, the man and woman concerned about their homes, lost of jobs, and their children who are on drugs, and marriages that need mending. Beloved Lord Christ Jesus, I know that You have already put in place all that is needed for all of us to get through these rough times, and we Thank You Father that You have always made a way out of no way for us. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Lord there are a few things that You have told us, that must be done today, and I Pray that as we go about doing them, You know how grateful we are for Your clear directions, Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You for success at doing Your will. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus Thank You. we are standing on Your Holy Word that; Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it, Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Do not trust in oppression and do not vainly hope in robbery; if riches increase, do not set your heart upon them, Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. we trust You Lord and will do You will. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Lord God, we have so much to be grateful to You for, as we look around we see those that have lost hope, those that are afraid, Father please streatch out You loving hand and assure those that stand in need of hope that You are there, and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, that every voice that speaks out against them shall be bought to great shame, and that You will never leave them or forsake them, and that You have given us a Spirit of Power, not fear, for You told us; A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge increases power, He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power, The angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God, Amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, 'What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out, All the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all, You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth, For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses, He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Lord we fear no man or anything that they can do to us, for we know that; Greater is You that is in us, then he that is in this world, Now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them?, If anyone fiercely assails you it will not be from Me. Whoever assails you will fall because of you. But I will deliver you on that day,' declares the LORD, and you will not be given into the hand of the men whom you dread, For I will certainly rescue you, and you will not fall by the sword; but you will have your own life as booty, because you have trusted in Me,' declares the LORD, Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. O Bless That Wonderful Name Of Christ Jesus, The Only Name By Which Any Man Can Be Saved. Thanks Be Unto God, Who Has Given Us The Victory. Thank You Lord, that You have Blessed us this day to do Your will.
Now unto You, who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to You be the power and glory, to all generations forever and ever. Who has by the shading of Your Blood on the Cross, and raising from the grave, has proven Yourself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming. Today and everyday, for the rest of our lives. i stand in the gap for all of those in this place, and give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus. we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Father, i in the Holy and Blessed name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's body and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, Who is Lord Of Our Lives. Thank You Beloved Savior, Thank You.
Amen.
