Our Prayer For Wednesday December 2, 2009
VERSE:
Psalm 74 (King James Version)
O' God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture? Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary. Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs. A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees. But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers. They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground. They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long. O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever? Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom. For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness. Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers. The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun. Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter. Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name. O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever. Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty. O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name. Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily. Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.
COMMENTARY:
This psalm appears to describe the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple by the Chaldeans. The deplorable case of the people of God, at the time, is spread before the Lord, and left with him. They plead the great things God had done for them. If the deliverance of Israel out of Egypt was encouragement to hope that he would not cast them off, much more reason have we to believe, that God will not cast off any whom Christ has redeemed with his own blood. Infidels and persecutors may silence faithful ministers, and shut up places of worship, and say they will destroy the people of God and their religion together. For a long time they may prosper in these attempts, and God's oppressed servants may see no prospect of deliverance; but there is a remnant of believers, the seed of a future harvest, and the despised church has survived those who once triumphed over her. When the power of enemies is most threatening, it is comfortable to flee to the power of God by earnest prayer. The church silences her own complaints. What God had done for his people, as their King of old, encouraged them to depend on him. It was the Lord's doing, none besides could do it. This providence was food to faith and hope, to support and encourage in difficulties. The God of Israel is the God of nature. He that is faithful to his covenant about the day and the night, will never cast off those whom he has chosen. We have as much reason to expect affliction, as to expect night and winter. But we have no more reason to despair of the return of comfort, than to despair of day and summer. And in the world above we shall have no more changes. The psalmist begs that God would appear for the church against their enemies. The folly of such as revile his gospel and his servants will be plain to all. Let us call upon our God to enlighten the dark nations of the earth; and to rescue his people, that the poor and needy may praise his name. Blessed Saviour, thou art the same yesterday, to-day, and for ever. Make thy people more than conquerors. Be thou, Lord, all in all to them in every situation and circumstances; for then thy poor and needy people will praise thy name.
PRAYER:
Most Holy Beloved God of all times and places, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. You have brought us to the beginning of a new day, You have kept watch over us, so that no harm or danger came unto our doors, and we come before You Thanking You Lord for all that You have done, and for those things that You are yet to do in our lives. Thank You Precious Lord and Savior Thank You. Lord Christ Jesus, our Father in Heaven, we love You, and want You to know that we are so very Godly sorry for any sin that we have committed, and ask Your forgiveness, for we know that when we sin we are offending You. Thank You God, our Lord Christ Jesus, that You shad Your Blood on the cross for our sins, and that You have told us that; If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us, If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin, By sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ, Encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called 'Today,' so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. we therefore confess knowing that You have told us that if we confess our sins, You would be faithful to forgive us, and Your Blood would wash us from all unrighteousness. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, the only name by which Any Man Can Be Saved. Thank You. O' Bless That Wonderful Name Of Christ Jesus. I will extol You, my God, O King, and I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever, Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts, On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. Men shall speak of the power of Your awesome acts, and I will tell of Your greatness. They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness and will shout joyfully of Your righteousness, Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise Him in the heights! Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His hosts! Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all stars of light! Praise Him, highest heavens, and the waters that are above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the LORD, for He commanded and they were created, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name, Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing, Saying, 'Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. O' how we Your children love to praise Your Holy name. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, our God, our Father in Heaven, our Holy Spirit. Thank You, for You alone are worthy to be praised. Thank You. Blessed Father we ask You this day, that You please Bless the men and women that are fighting in wars and are in harms way, Bless their families, and we ask that You touch the hearts of all world leaders, give them wisdom, and a heart to do Your will, and guide them with Your mighty hands. Thank You Precious Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, for You are our only hope for peace in this world, if we are to ever know it again, it will have to come by Your loving hands. Lord we ask Your Blessing this day on the children of the world, the men and women who are sick, those who are concerned about their children, their homes, looking for employment, those who are weary and alone. Lord we know that You have promised us that; those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength, They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Thank You Lord that You have given us the patience to wait on You, to lead and guide us in the way You would have us to go, for You have told us; For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay, Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Make me know Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day, Wait for the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the LORD, Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Thank You Beloved Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Most Holy God, Lord and Creator Christ Jesus, we ask You today to surround us in Your all-embracing love, and grant that this day we turn not aside into sin, nor be overcome by adversity, but let our thoughts, words, and deeds, in some small way, be for the good of Your Kingdom. Give us a heart and mind to serve. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus Thank You. Father God, we fear no man, for You have told us; The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe, But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one, Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?, The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever, The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread?, They will no longer be a prey to the nations, and the beasts of the earth will not devour them; but they will live securely, and no one will make them afraid, But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries, Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked will be no longer, The LORD shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways, For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. In addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world, Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. For satan himself can not prevail against the gates of the Church. Thank You Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Thank You. Father we are not afraid, we know that we are Your children, and that You will never leave or forsake any of us, and that we must trust in You and lean not to our own understanding. Thank You God, Blessed Holy Spirit, Savior Christ Jesus who is Lord of our lives.
Now unto You, who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to You be the power and glory, to all generations forever and ever. Who has by the shading of Your Blood on the Cross, and raising from the grave, has proven Yourself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of Your coming. Today and everyday, for the rest of our lives. i stand in the gap for all of those in this place, and give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus. we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Father, i in the Holy and Blessed name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in Your most Precious Holy name, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's body and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, Who is Lord Of Our Lives. Thank You Beloved Savior, Thank You.
