In today’s world the hustle and bustle of everyday life can seem like a rat race. We go to our jobs, we pay our bills, and we support our family and we even contribute to our community. Most people will also have hobbies that help them to relax, or possibly to even make us happy. With all this together it can make for a full plate, and often with no room for anything else. As Christians this can be a serious situation needing great attention. As Christian we love the Lord, and we would want to live as he would wish. Though often we get so tied up in the “gotta do” list that we forget what we are doing it for. Perhaps even who for. Without necessarily meaning to we place things higher in priority and without thinking, place those that should be held high, towards the back of our list. In Exodus 20:3 we read "You shall have no other gods before me” Before we know it, we can find ourselves worshiping another god entirely. Our jobs, our homes, perhaps even our own personal glory, can find its way to the top of our list and finding ourselves without much and any time for the Savior we say we truly serve and worship. The Word of God reads that we are to give our life to him entirely. Much of the problems come from the teaching that to be successful, you must have wealth and popularity, and to gain that, we strive with all we have to obtain it. But in the strive to gain, we loose sight of the promise we made for the redemption of our souls. We as Christians have not only given our hearts to God, but have also vowed to serve him thru the life we have been given. It is not that we love the Lord any less, but rather simply loosing focus due to placing items on our plates that distract us, and therefore lead us off track. The enemy is a skilled opponent, so do not underestimate him. If you can not be tempted with sinful pleasures, often good hearted people find themselves lost to the overwhelming list of their personal wants. They may find themselves not necessarily living in sin, but rather simply serving neither God, nor the enemy, but rather serving themselves. This in itself is a sin. The Bible reads in Revelations 3:16, so then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, will I spew you out of my mouth. We know that if we are cold, this means we simply do not serve God at all. If we are hot then we serve him with everything. But God also states here that if we are found somewhere in the middle, then that is the same as not serving him at all. The Bible also reads in Luke 16:13, 13 “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. Let everyone that claims to love Christ, examine themselves today. Asking ourselves, where God is on our list, and if we find anything that we have placed before it then that has been our God. But having it revealed to us now, May we make a choice to change our list of priority to better fit our promise to God. So that we may truly say we are servants of the Most High God, and Jesus Christ is our Savior.
