Pew study looks at the religious landscape of African-Americans
T hrough slavery and segregation, the black church has provided hope, unity and sanctuary.
Today African-Americans are the nation’s most religious group. So says a recent study by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

The Greedy Sons
From Tales of the Dervishes By Idies Shah
There was once a hard-working and generous farmer who had several idle and greedy sons. On his deathbed he told them that the would find his treasure if they were to dig in a certain field. As soon as the old man was dead, the sons hurried to the fields, which they dug up from one end to another, and with increasing desperation and concentration when they did not find the gold in the place indicated.
But they…

(Meditation: Mark 1:16-18)
God, I pray for all who hear Jesus' call, "Come, follow Me, and I will make You fishers of men." Our culture measures Christians by whether we are active in church and try to lead a decent life. But You call us to follow You beyond that, to love You with all our heart, and with all our soul, and with all our mind. You call us to trust You completely, to obey You fully. You call us…

Today's Prayer
God, please, please give me an insatiable desire and thirst for Jesus, for Your Word, my Savior. Open my eyes that I may see myself as You see me, that I may see and love others from Your viewpoint, that You would be the absolute center and guiding light of my life. Refresh my daily walk that I may walk with You in quiet places, in heavenly places, and throughout all of life into eternity. Thank You, God, my source of life and comfort and being. Bless You, Lord. In Jesus'…

Abuse of Authority in the Church
A Biblical Perspective of Leadership
by Jason Young
A sad and unfortunate fact in many Christian churches and organizations today is that pastors, teachers and other elders exert or attempt to exert a heavy-handed, authoritarian type of control over their membership. While many of these leaders are well meaning, frequently authoritarianism is rooted in a hunger for power and control. These leaders rationalize and defend…

Matthew 28:1–20 This is the day men give candy and roses to their wives or sweethearts. For me it usually means a dinner out or a weekend away. This day of celebration is in honor of the love between a man and a woman. It is interesting that the symbol of this day is a heart and the colors used to decorate are red and white. The greatest love story ever told also involves the heart and the colors red and white. On the cross Jesus died because the weight of our sin broke His heart, but because…

Today's Prayer
Dear God, Thank you for always being with me. Please help me, and remind me, not to react to situations in a fleshly manner. When I am faced with vicious gossip or wrongdoing against me or something I strongly disagree with, please help me to remain silent when I should and to speak with calm wisdom when called for, but to never lose my temper or just "react." I want to act like a Christian should act. I want to be a testimony for my Lord and Savior. I want to remain…

I AM IN PAIN MY LORD
I am in pain my Lord,
and I surrender to it with love,
for thy has gone through worse for us,
through your Sacred Blood, your Sacred Heart,
your Infinite Love.
I know that through these shadows thou will reach for me,
extending your hand, lifting my soul,
and making it shine and twinkle,
like one of your stars My Lord.
I have no… Continue

There have been many atrocities done to others in the name of religion, but that's not God's fault. It's mans wrong interpretation of the Bible. God can't be blamed for the wrong actions of others. He didn't make them do it. Christians are often seen as "hypocrites" because we don't follow the Bible fully. Once we become Christians we aren't perfect. We try to live by the Bible's teaching but sometime we fail. But God knows our hearts and he can…
