Spreading God's Love Thru Prayer
In the Book of Daniel, Chapter 4, God teaches the powerful Nebuchadnezzar a lesson about human pride. Though the mighty king had been warned by God’s prophet of impending judgment if he did not “break off” his sins by being righteous and showing mercy towards the poor, he didn’t listen. Nebuchadnezzar instead, stuck out his chest and went forth behaving high-minded.
Scriptures notes that judgment came instantly. Nebuchadnezzar lost his senses, and was driven from men “to eat grass as an oxen.” After the period God had prescribed was over, he was restored. Nebuchadnezzar learned from the ordeal who indeed is sovereign. Therefore, he praised God when he came to his senses. Being out in the field, wet like an animal, taught the mighty king to honor God’s majesty and not seek his own.
Today do not follow the ways of the world-pride and arrogance. Acknowledge instead, God in ALL things. Humbly serve the Lord and the Lord alone. Therefore, don’t be impressed by your resume nor your neighbor’s-nor disgusted by yours or his. Do your labor as “unto the Lord” and the Lord will reward you in due season. Proverbs 16:18 & 19, says, “Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.” Stay in God: the ark of safety. Hence, when the rains of life come flooding, you will be able to withstand the tide.
