Forgiveness

Did you know that God will forgive your sins if you believe it and accept it with a little faith? No matter how bad you think your sins are, God is rich in mercy and will forgive you. Let us consider forgiveness.

You can boldly (with confidence) approach the throne of God for His mercy and grace, and you will find that He will grant you full forgiveness for any of your sins. Hebrews 4:16 states:

"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalms 103:12)

God (your Heavenly Father) forgives you as far as the east is from the west. Do you know how far that is? If you head north, you will eventually reach the top of the globe and head south. But, if you head east, you will never head west. It is infinite, unending. God doesn't want you to carry around excess baggage that will weigh you down. He wants your burdens to be light. Feelings of guilt can be like heavy chains wrapped around your shoulders. God wants just the opposite for you.

"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28)

You will find rest. If you consider the oxen and their yoke, there is one ox that bears the most weight. Jesus Christ is carrying the most weight. Therefore, your burden is light.

In Fact, you are to cast your burdens upon Him. He is willing to take all that guilt and burden of past sins. They were nailed to the cross.

"Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22)

You now have an advocate in Jesus for any of your sins before God.

"My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1 John 2:1)

If you confess your sins before God, He will forgive you and cleanse you from the unrighteousness of your sins.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

Grab hold of the words in this verse. The Bible is the Word of God, and it gives us God’s will for our lives! It’s a matter of trust. We confess our sins. And it says that God is faithful and just. He forgives our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

When you are cleansed from unrighteousness, God blots out all your transgressions and will not remember them. And if God isn’t remembering your past sins, then why are you?

"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance; let us contend together; state your case, that you may be acquitted." (Isaiah 43:25-26)

If you will approach God in prayer, state your case before Him, and say that you are sorry, God will fully forgive your sins and will no longer remember them.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)

What this verse means is that if you confess your sins before God, and repent of each one of them, then God forgives you. And when God forgives you, then you no longer have condemnation before God. You are fully forgiven, and you are free to let your past sins go (which includes the guilt).

Brethren, all our sins become as "white as snow." Our slates are made completely clean. Our sheets are as white as snow. All the stains from past sins are completely washed away by the blood of Jesus.

"Come now and let us reason together," says the Lord, Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." (Isaiah 1:18)

All the old things of your past, including past sins, are fully passed away in the eyes of God because you have now become a new creation in Christ.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

You have full forgiveness of all your sins through the blood that Jesus shed for all of us on the cross.

"In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." (Ephesians 1:7)

As a Christian, you have forgiveness for all your sins, no matter how bad or how vile you think your past sins may be. When you confess and repent your sins before God, He will forgive you. The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. Not only is God telling us that we have His full forgiveness on our past sins because of the blood Jesus shed for our sins, but our sins are no longer remembered in His eyes. They are completely blotted out for eternity. And if God isn’t remembering our sins, then we should do likewise.
