Our Prayer For Today Friday Evening, September 4, 2009

VERSE:

Psalm 12 (King James Version)


Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.


COMMENTARY:


The psalmist begs help of God, because there were none among men whom he dare trust. Thank God, that the Psalm furnishes good thoughts for bad times; a man may comfort himself with such meditations and Prayers. Let us see what makes the times bad, and when they may be said to be so. Ask the children of this world, What makes the times bad? they will tell you, Scarcity of money, decay of trade, and the desolations of war, make the times bad: but the Scripture lays the badness of the times on causes of another nature, perilous times shall come, for sin shall abound; and of this David complains. When piety decays times really are bad. He who made man's mouth will call him to an account for his proud, profane, dissembling, or even useless words. When the poor and needy are oppressed, then the times are very bad. God, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, himself takes notice of the oppression of the poor, and the sighing of the needy. When wickedness abounds, and is countenanced by those in authority, then the times are very bad. See with what good things we are here furnished for such bad times; and we cannot tell what times we may be reserved for. 1. We have our Lord Christ Jesus to go to, from whom we may ask and expect the redress of all our grievances. 2. Our Lord will certainly punish and restrain false and proud men. 3. He will work deliverance for His oppressed people. Christ Jesus help is given in the fittest time. Though men are false, God Our Lord, is faithful; though they are not to be trusted, Christ Jesus is. The preciousness of His word is compared to silver refined to the highest degree. How many proofs have been given of its power and truth! Christ Jesus will secure His chosen remnant, however bad the times are. As long as the world stands, there will be a generation of proud and wicked men. But all God's people are put into the hands of Christ our Savior; there they are in safety, for none can pluck them thence; being built on Him, the Rock, they are safe, notwithstanding temptation or persecution come with ever so much force upon them. PRAYER:


Dear God, Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, merciful Father, praise be to You, praise from our inmost being. Thank you, Lord, for another day in Your grace, for the gift of forgiveness and the hope of life. Keep us this Evening, and let us enjoy restful night, and then let us awaken again to a new day ready to serve to the glory of Your name. Keep our love ones also in You loving care, and strengthen them in faith and purpose. Lord Christ Jesus, we Thank You as for another week of Your Grace and protection. Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. Give us a restful weekend so that we might renew our energy. This will help us face a new week. We Thank You that we know, because You taught us through Your Word that; There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this, the steadfast of mind you will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You, LORD, You will establish peace for us, since You have also performed for us all our works, Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful, the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you, let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be Thankful, therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you, but now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall. Thank You, Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. Lord, we have no fear of any man, for we know that; Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored; those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish. You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them, those who war with you will be as nothing and non-existent, Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us, so that we confidently say, 'THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?" Thank You Lord Christ Jesus, Thank You. Lord we know that You know what each and everyone of us stand in need of. Thank You that Your perfect will has already been done in our lives, and every need met. Thank You Lord, Thank You. You just keep on making a way for us, out of no way, and we Thank You. Bless that wonderful name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life.

Now unto Him who has proven Himself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of His coming, Today as everyday, for the rest of our lives we give Thanks unto You, most Beloved Christ Jesus, and every day for the rest of our lives. i in the Holy and Blessed, name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in the most Precious name of Christ Jesus, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord Christ Jesus.
