VERSE:
Psalm 11 (King James Version)
In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
COMMENTARY:
David had to struggle with, and triumph over a strong temptation to distrust God, and betake himself to indirect means for his own safety, in a time of danger. To those that truly fear God and serve him, are welcome to put their trust in him. The Psalmist, before he gives an account of his temptation to distrust God, records his resolution to trust in Him, as that by which he was resolved to live and die. The believer, terrified by his enemies, may be tempted, by fear, to desert his post, or neglect his work. They perceive danger, but not security in Christ; they are given counsel that savours of worldly policy, rather than of heavenly wisdom, that is found in the Word of God. The principles of religion are the foundations on which the faith and hope of the righteous are built. We are concerned to hold these fast against all temptations to unbelief; we as believers would be undone, if they had not God to go to, God to trust in. The prosperity of wicked people in their wicked, evil ways, and the straits and distresses which the best men are sometimes brought into, tried David's faith. We need not say, Who shall go up to heaven, to fetch us thence a God to trust in? The word is nigh us, and God in the Word; His Spirit is in His saints, those living temples, and the Lord is that Spirit. Our God governs the world. We may know what men seem to be, but God knows what they are, as the refiner knows the value of gold when he has tried it. God is said to try with His eyes, because he cannot err, or be imposed upon. If He allows afflictions on good people, it is for their trial, therefore for their good.
However persecutors and oppressors may prosper awhile, they will for ever perish. God is a Holy God, He is a righteous Judge, and will therefore punish them. In what a horrible tempest are the wicked hurried away at death! Every man has the portion of his cup assigned him. the impenitent sinners, should mark their doom! The last call to repentance is about to be addressed to them, judgement is at hand; through the gloomy shade of death they will pass into the region of eternal wrath. But Christ Jesus is our hope, our consolation, our security. Then, not otherwise, will the soul be carried through all its difficulties and conflicts. We as children of God, know that by the Grace of God, our Lord Christ Jesus, we have been saved, and no matter how things look, or how long we wait, we can say with confidence that, our Lord Christ Jesus, is going to Show Up! So we Stand, ready to fight the Good Fight Of Faith!
PRAYER:
Precious Lord, Christ Jesus, Thank You, that once again we come into Your Holy presence with Praise, giving Thanks to You for allowing us to see this, yet another day. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Holy triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; Thank You, that You have given us a humble and penitent heart, so we don't boast in our self, or whatever good may be accomplished through us, but that we boldly boast in You, our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Let us gratefully acknowledge that all our talents and possessions are undeserved gifts from Your gracious hand. Thank You Lord, Thank You, for You have told us that greater is He that is in us, then he that is in this world, and that, we were to prove ourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. Christ Jesus, we Thank You, that You have given unto us a heart and mind to be doers of You Word, and that we love You, and one day want to hear You say, "Well Done My God And Faithful Servant." Thank You Lord, Thank You. O' What a mighty God we serve. Lord we Thank You today, that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of Spirit of sound mind, and we can handle anything that the evil one sends our way, because we stand dressed in the whole Word of You our Savior Christ Jesus. We are grateful to You today Lord, because through Your Word, You have told us; There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, You have not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. As far as the east is from the west, so far has You removed our transgressions from us, therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come, God did not send You into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through You, he who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God, truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life, For I will be merciful to their iniquities and I will remember their sins no more, I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins, let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, how Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! Thank You Lord, Thank You. Lord Thank You that You have already, looked down on us Your children, even those who don't yet know You as their Savior, and took care of all of our needs. Thank You that no matter how things may look, that any man that calls on You, shall be saved. Thank You, that we were saved by Grace, not works least any man should boast. Thank You Lord that we know that we were all sinners, and were Saved by nothing but Your Grace and Mercy, that You showed us by the shading of Your Blood, and death, on the Cross. Thank You Christ Jesus. O' Bless that wonderful name of Christ Jesus. Thank You Lord, Thank You. Lord we heard You when You told us; "Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water, for if you return to the LORD, your brothers and your sons will find compassion before those who led them captive and will return to this land. For the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate, and will not turn His face away from you if you return to Him." Thank You Lord, Thank You for Your Grace and Mercy. Lord, Thank You that You know that all of Your servant are on one accord, and desire to do Your perfect will. Thank You that You have given us all the tools to get the job done, Thank You Lord, Thank You. We Thank You for the Blessings that You have already bestowed on Your children. Thank You Lord.
Now unto Him who has proven Himself, to be more then able to keep us, until the day of His coming, We give Thanks, that this day, most Beloved Christ Jesus, and every day for the rest of our lives. i in the name of Christ Jesus, who is Lord of my life, proclaim that our Prayer, and all we ask is already done, for we ask in the Holy and Precious name of Christ Jesus, and i commend each and everyone of Your children's bodies and souls into Your loving, mighty hands, our Beloved Lord Christ Jesus.
Amen.
